My fiance and I went to look at wedding bands today (I know we are doing this all super early, but we’re just excited!). I’ve been thinking for a while that I wanted a plain band in rose gold, same as my engagement ring. I love the contrast of blingy with smooth straight metal, and that I could wear it on its own for a low key look. It’s also cheaper, obviously. I’m just not sure if it’s TOO much contrast. I know the more popular thing to do would be to get the pave. I do think the pave looks nice too, but I just really like the plain.
There is also a curved pave ring that matches my ring. They didn’t have it in the store, and called to see if it could be shipped and it can’t for at least a while. I think I prefer the straight bands over the curved one anyway, so I don’t know that it’s a serious contender.
Regardless of which one I get, it will be in rose gold.
So, what do you think? Is the contrast too much? Do you have any pics to share?
The first two pics below are the plain band. It looks much better in the first picture with the lighting. The third is the straight pave, and the last is the curved pave.

Lavender28: I like the pave straight 🙂

I think the straight pave band looks the best.

I think the pave straight band looks perfect with your ring. But… Get whatever one you truly love. You’re the one who will wear it every day, not us. 🙂

I really like the pave band with your ring BUT I honestly love the plain band, too. Have you tried on different styles of plain bands? You could get a thinner one (if you want) and see if that helps the contrast. I like a bit of contrast though. I think it helps show case both of the rings nicely. : ) Get what YOU love and don’t think too much about what’s popular. I have the opposite. I have a plain solitaire with no pave side stones and a pave band in rose gold and I love it. Around me all I ever see are pave e-rings with pave bands and I decided to go with what I love instead of what was popular around me. I don’t regret it one bit!! : ) You can also always ask for a pave band down the road for an anniversary. Unless you want the pave to be your wedding band, then go for it. You can still ask for a plain band down the road for an anniversary for those low key days. Whatever you truly want for your wedding band you should get. Both are beautiful : )

The pave looks nice with your e-ring, but I would worry about one of the little stones falling out.

Lavender28: I voted for the pave straight band. I think it looks so pretty with your ERing. They really look like they were made for each other. But with just a bit of contrast to see that they are two separate rings.
But, I’m a big fan of plain bands. I think they are beautiful. In looking at the pictures you posted, it seems the plain band is kind of flat, with a rather sharp drop-off at the edges. Your ERing has so many beautiful and graceful curves, and it seems like a very sudden and abrupt change from the plain band to the ERing. Maybe a domed band would kind of echo the graceful curves of your ERing’s band?
Whichever way you decide to go, though, you can’t possibly go wrong. Both options are beautiful, and your set will be beautiful, too.

longtimemrs: I agree 100%!
OP, I think if you try on a more rounded style plain band like longtimemrs suggested that it would look really nice with your ering and elegant!

Thank you, everyone! It’s very helpful to read everyone’s opinions!

I prefer the straight pavé.

I prefer the straight pave, but I see where you’re coming from with the plan band. I agree with previous poster that a thinner plain band might do the trick.

I believe you should get whichever one YOU like the best. That said, I personally like the pave straight band best. I agree with PPs, maybe try on other plain bands- maybe thinner ones or one with a matte finish to it?

LOVEEEEEEE the pave straight band…really complements the stone and makes it pop!

I guess I’m in the minority, but I prefer the plain. I like when the e-ring and wedding band are both distinct and I find that matching wedding bands tend to blend with/look like part of the e-ring.

I love how the pave straight can be worn alone or with the ering and it matches to beautifully!
