Some of you may be familiar with the concept of an Anniversary or Wish box. The idea is that people write you messages and then you read one on every anniversary. You give important anniversaries to important people in your life (5th, 10th, etc) and ideally you give the 50th to a person or couple who has been married that long (in our case, mostly likely his grandparents)
When I told Fiance about this ages ago (well before we were even engaged) he got really into the idea. He has brought it up several times since then.
I’ve been wracking my brain for ways to execute it, however. You can buy the pre-made version online for $95, but as far as I’m concerned that just isn’t an acceptable option- it’s pretty bland.
I’ve debated vintage postcards. I’ve debated plain color note cards. The list goes on.
At this point, I think I’ve finally come up with an idea that I can be truly happy with.
I’m going to pick out 50 pictures of us together from the time we started dating to the time we get married (or as close as I can to get them printed in time!) and I’m going to have them printed as postcards. That way, each time we open one of the envelopes, we’re not just opening a note from a loved one- we’ll also be opening a memory of our early life together.
Does anybody else have plans to do an anniversary or wish box? How do you plan to execute it?

I hate to bump this, but I’m really interested to see what other people have to say.
So, I’ll bump it along with a link 🙂
Here’s the link to the “original” anniversary box that you can purchase.

i think that idea is absolutely precious!! The pictures of you on postcards is the best solution! Go for that, for sure.

@aaiimmee: That’s kind of what I decided, too. It’s funny to me how pictures have kind of started to become a little theme for our wedding, in their own way. I’m hoping to have a photo guest book (Hopefully with our engagement pictures if we get enough good ones), I’m planning to set up a “faux-to booth” so guests can take pictures, and now I’m planning to use old pictures of us for our wish box.
I’ve always loved photography, so it doesn’t really surprise me, it’s just funny how themes occur that we don’t even plan on.

I’m planning on doing something similar. Each of our table numbers will be an anniversary card. We’re having 25 tables. We’ll have each table sign, doodle, etc on the card to be opened on that anniversary. I’m thinking of making some simple cards to be printed myself and putting them in vellum envelopes so we can see the number.

@asdf: That’s such a cute idea!
Right now, the most difficult thing I’m coming up against is finding a box to keep these in. I want something pretty that can be displayed, and it needs to be big enough to hold 50 postcards in envelopes, but also not so big that they get all mixed up inside the box.
So, hopefully I’ll find a box that suits me!
