Wow!  My maids are fighting already over who gets to put the most effort in the party.  I voted no, I think it’s traditional for the maids to plan it.  But that’s before I read your whole story…technically, you can do whatever you want.  In your situation it sounds like you will get the best things done if you do it yourself.

We decieded not to do a officalical MOM or Bridesmaid or Best Man. So , no one has really stepped up to plan out of the wedding party. They have all asked about it, but no one wants to plan. I think we are doing a joint party and we will do the planning and make it more of a pre-wedding bridal party party. We will all chip in, including Fiance and me.

How about you go to Toronto and have a one on one blast with your best friend that she can plan out in detail?  More quality of time and you don’t have to plan it.

If the rest of your bms feel bummed at missing out they can plan a local one for you as well.  Two parties in that case!

I think it’s probably okay to plan it yourself as long as you get input from your girls along the way and DON’T expect them to pay for you.  I’ve been to a bachelorette party that the bride planned herself.  She really wanted one and her maids weren’t on the ball, so she just planned it herself.  We all had a blast, though I think she was disappointed she had to do all the work.
