Congrats! I am doing a 5 year renewal Oct 2012. I have determined that this ceremony is kinda like the one we never had. I had a small private affair and this time it will be more us. So we are just having fun with it. I am working on the Save-The-Date Cards now and will probably have them out by Oct. this year. So then I can start work on the invitations. I still need to start on the dresses as well.

I am making everything by hand so I need to allow time to get things done. We are also upgrading rings so we have to save up for that, so by making as much by hand as I can it will save a ton of money.

But I say just have fun with it. You can always post ideas or ask for imput here.

My dress is going to be a Victorian era style kinda like this but not as flat. I am doing a corset top with buckles on the front.  It will be black with a red underlay. I really need to get to the fabric store and get the material so I can get started on it as soon as the weather breaks.

Yeah, I run a handmade business so I am very crafty. I wanted some unique things that I doubt would be able to find in a store. This is kinda like my dress, been having issues with finding the pic in all my planning files…

Exactly. things change but I think the colors are one thing that will remain. I love the idea of doing colored dresses this time around. I was even thinking of using my original wedding dress as a Trash The Dress session before the renewal.

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary.  I will be doing my vow renewal for our 15th anniversary this April.  I never sent out save the dates, I’m just sending out invite 2 months prior.  I would suggest you negotiate with all the vendors, I always remind them its an anniversary not a wedding and have been sucessful in booking the vendor I wanted for much less than I was quoted.  I have been planning for a year (to pay as I go) and weddingbee has been an amazing help.

Ours will be a convalidation(we are Catholic and apparently if a ceremony is not done in the church walls it doesnt count, sooo we have been not full married oops!).  We are having a church vow renewal with my son playing the guitar as I walk down (total time about 30min).  Then pictures since we have family flying in from all over.  The reception is at 6pm with cocktails( my hubby REALLY wanted the open bar), dinner and dancing.  The locations are 10 minutes apart but we really just want very close family at the church and everyone to celebrate with us at the reception (total guest should be between 100-130).  The timing is weird because Catholic churches dont do ceremonies later than 3pm so there is quit a bit of time in between.
