My fiance and I moved a couple hundred miles away from where we were both from. However, we will be having the wedding and reception back in our hometown, which is about 7 hours away.
I’m having trouble locating a venue from a distance. I don’t have a lot of friends in the area anymore, and my maid of honor has 2 kids so I don’t want to constantly bother her!
If anyone has any advice for planning an out of state wedding, please let me know! Like I said, it has been incredibly hard for me to find a venue. Ideally, the wedding will be outside, with an indoor reception. We don’t have a very large budget either, and most of the venues I’ve found are super expensive. (30 wedding guests, 70 reception)

Google! Look up ‘wedding venues mytown ‘. Look up photographers in your area, and check out some of the places they shot for couples.
instagram I’ve also found helpful ‘mytown wedding’ (and different variants). if no prices listed, email them!
Also consider unconventional venues; restaurants, museums, art gallerie, breweries/distillery, park for ceremony + other place for reception.
you just have to do a bit more planning up front. Once you get a few places you like that are in budget you can plan a trip home. Helpful if you combine with another trip (holiday/birthday) or other wedding stuff (catering, dresses)

Google, look a venue revommendations and reviews on The Knot (in fact they have some sort of free concierge service that you can tell them your location and budget and they’ll send you venue recommendations). Eventually, once you have a list of a few different possibilities, you’ll have to go visit venues. Theres only so much you can tell from a website. So you need to put a weekend on the calendar that you and Fiance make the trip back to visit venues.
