Hello there! I’ve started the process of booking our church for the ceremony. We’re Catholic so there is a ton of premarital stuff we have to do, and the priest who will be officiating suggested that we should have it all done at least six months before the actual wedding. We’ve run into some issues with the church, but that’s a whole different story! Point is, I’m glad we already started to look into booking so we can sort the issues (and God forbid any others should pop up!) now versus later, you know what I mean? So I say go for it!

Hi ladies!

Have been helping a friend plan her wedding since October, all the time mentally taking notes of ideas I wanted. About 90% certain of the venues I want for ceremony & reception, but feel a bit silly trying to book them over 2yrs out. Think around June (when we are actually 2yrs out) that I will start making proper enquiries & booking the big things.

Happy planning!

@kat2014:  It’s great isn’t it? Being a Bridesmaid or Best Man for my friend, we’ve been going to bridal expos etc with the other BMs (also my girls) – bouncing ideas around. One of our mates got married only 3yrs ago, so she’s been giving heaps of advice about local vendors, timelines, perspective of costs etc.

A lot of the popular venues in my area are already booking for 2014 so I began my search right away! I found one over the weekend that was wide open for 2014 still so I got my choice of dates. I’m going to book more in the fall/winter just so I can have my top choice since I am booking so early. It’s nice to tackle the booking process slowly 🙂

UPDATE: So we’ve locked in our photographers, pretty stoked about our deal. Have checked out the venue I love for ceremony – they refuse to take bookings until 12mths out. It’s killing me cos I want it right now! I’m so paranoid that I’m going to call in a year & it will be taken.

Got a lead on a place for the reception too… had 2 choices, one slightly higher than the other, mainly just cos we’ve frequented the 1st place a lot, know what to expect. 2nd choice is a bit of a mystery, not many people have heard of it.

However after going to the photogs, they showed me a wedding album as an example (co-incidentally the album of a co-worker!) who had used 2nd ranked venue for reception. I’ve got the goss from her today & it’s now moved to 1st place! And she personally knows the owners, so has told me to drop her name when I make enquiries. WOOT!
