Mariposies123 :  and I had the same thoughts about my Destination Wedding.  Since everyone was spending money to fly down, I wanted to make sure that they had a good time by keeping them fed and boozed up.  Ha.

I’m divorced and people still talk about how much fun they had during the wedding weekend.

Mariposies123 :  I feel this so much! We’re having a some-what destination wedding just because everyone’s so spread out.  We’re only doing a dinner for the reception and I have such guilt that everyone is coming all that way to celebrate with us, and we’re not doing a full blown party.

I think your reception sounds like it will be wonderful! You’ve really gone above and beyond, and your guests will love it! They are making the choice to come celebrate with you, an invitation is not a summons, and they will just be happy be a part of your day!

Just breathe!! This is YOUR day as long as it is the way YOU want it that is all that matters! From what you have described I would love to attend!! It will be absolutely beautiful!!

Well l agree with you on breathe, and of course on how lovely OP’s plans sound ( so does she, so concerned everyone will have a good time) but l do feel l have to take issue on the idea that nothing else matters but that it is the way the bride wants it.

The reception is the thank you to guests for coming, esp for a destination wedding. Some concern for their convenience and enjoyment, is, l would have thought, very much what matters.

Sounds like we have similar weddings. We are getting married in Costa Rica in a small boutique hotel next to a waterfall. It will only be 20 of us.

Its what I wanted and everyone will have to adjust or not come. I made information packets for the ppl coming to let them know what to except. Ceremony next to the waterfall and a dinner reception after.

We are a loud funny group so our wedding it literally like a fam vacation. Stress free as much as possible.

We are having a big reception style party before we go.

I’ve been to so many weddings, all vary to huge degrees, venues, desitinations, food and music etc… In all this time I’ve never not had a brilliant time. Its just such a joyful occasion and the small details you’re think about will not even register on anyones radar. laughing
