We did a lot of talking before we got engaged. We had all but settled on a location and talked about food and what kind of vibe we wanted. We didn’t actually book or buy anything though.

You don’t have to wait until he proposes to book your venue, and if it really is in such high demand, I wouldn’t wait.

We booked our venue in September 2016, for our September 2017 wedding, and he proposed when the ring was done in November. We just didn’t publicize the fact we were already engaged until the ring came in and he did his proposal right before the Thanksgiving holiday. I came back to work from Thanksgiving break and my colleagues were astonished that not only was I engaged, but we already had our venue booked, I’d bought the dress over the long weekend when I was home (I went to the bridal outlet from the I Found The Gown TV show with my mom and sister while my Fiance stayed behind and brewed beer with my dad) and we had a lead on a caterer!

I’ve thought a lot about it, yes.  But for me I plan to get married at the courthouse so the only planning that required was discussing it with him and looking around to see what kind of white dress I want (not traditional wedding dress) and thinking about photography!

actually, I think you should go see the venue that you like and take video and pictures of it. Then if you want to, wait until after he proposed to show him. That way if it’s not the one, you know sooner than later. Couldn’t hurt. Like you said, he knows you’re looking at wedding stuff and he’s ok with it. No issues IMO.
