I’m turning 30 this friday… (eek!) and my Fiance is coming into town to visit and celebrate. We’re in a LDR right now – living almost 3000 miles apart from each other, and this is the first time he’ll have been back since we got engaged. It seemed like the perfect time to throw a party and celebrate.
Only problem is, my parents are out of town, and Fiance doesn’t get here til Thursday afternoon, so I am pretty much needing to plan this thing quickly and mostly on my own!
I’ve never been to an engagement party before, so I’m not really sure what I should be planning… We’re having it at my parents house on saturday evening. I’ve been super busy with school and Fiance with work, so we haven’t done a ton of planning in the couple weeks or so since we decided to throw the party. I have a couple of days for spring break right now, and just had the realization that I have no idea what I am going to do for this party!!! I’ve planned some things but not a lot, so I would love some suggestions/ideas on what might be fun for this sort of occasion.
We’re inviting about 25 people. There will be a combination of the guys Fiance knew in grad school (and their wives/girlfriends), my friends from high school who are still in town that Fiance has met once or twice, and the friends Fiance and I hung out with together. These groups really haven’t met each other, so I don’t want things to be awkward. I was thinking an activity of sorts might be good to get conversations going. Fiance and I were thinking maybe having some boardgames like Apples to Apples or Catchphrase might be fun.
Help me Bees! Any ideas on ways to help keep the party fun and lively…and hopefully not lame!? 🙂
