No…because my Father-in-law insisted on putting a copy of a hand drawn map of the location in the invitations and my flower girl had a white dress (me ivory)….

haha

Haha I got two other wedding invitations In The mail this week and sent mine today. I totally was like, oh etiquette fail, oh this oh that. It’s hard not to judge when you know all the rules especially if you have a keen attention to detail!

I hated weddings before I started planning ours. As a guest they were all the same,

bridal party enters… music… bride… reading… vows… reading… song… exit to music…. the dreaded wait around and do nothing until dinner time… sit and listen to really bad speaches… eat… pretend to have fun dancing… eat cake that is most likely stale…. Repeat for other friends in three weeks (or next week if it is summer)

Now that I am planning a wedding I am trying to decipher in my head if the green they used is sage or willow and Im dicecting centerpieces in my head to see how they were made, inspecting burlap to see if it was sewn on the hem or just tacked under with seam tape…. its a little rediculious… and they are still nearly all the same

Planning a wedding didn’t just ruin weddings for me; it ruined baby showers too! Tongue Out

I recently received an evite (!) to a baby shower along with what appeared to be a guest list of almost 200 people/emails. It actually said on there, right after time, date and location, “We’re registered at Amazon and Babies R Us!” I literally went “OMG! What IS that!?!” The majority of the guests weren’t necessarily friends, but just acquaintances or general email contacts of the couple.

@Cady:  No kidding. I did check out their registries and they must have expected a large turnout because it literally had everything under the sun on there, including travel packs of wipes, plastic hangers, furniture, etc. I think one of our mutual acquaintances/friends said that they are currently at about 25% in terms of positive RSVPs so I guess some people weren’t put out by the evite with registry information so blatantly listed.

I’ve ALWAYS been peeved by registry info in wedding invites, so that didn’t change, ha.  If anything, I feel like planning my wedding has made me a lot more forgiving of little mistakes, because I know how hard it is.

@lilbluebird:  Showers are the only occasion where it’s acceptable to include registry info, since that’s the whole point of the occasion. I wouldn’t think that was rude.

I think it goes both ways for me. The bad ettiquite stuff maybe bugs me a little more but I think I really enjoy weddings WAY more now and really love and appreciate all the little details that go into it because i know how stressfull and time consuming it all is. I don’t think i EVER paid attention to the little things before. When I was planning I had to go through old albums on FB to see what my best friends centerpieces and such were at their weddings because I hadn’t a clue ha, now I love taking it all in:)

@mrs.stormylove:  Oh, me too! And I try to make sure to compliment people when I get save-the-dates or invitations. It never occurred to me to do that before.
