i rather not because i just feel like i’d want to keep my bouquet and also wouldnt want my husband going up my dress in front of everyone for the garter.

I am not. They’re embarrassing for my single friends and always were for me, too. I have a special hatred for the bouquet toss because I had a bride give the DJ my name and he announced that I was needed on the dance floor – because I was dating my guy for 6 years and we weren’t engaged yet. So mortifying. Then the bride walked her bouquet over to me.

I am not doing an anniversary dance, either. Just planning to party like a rockstar with everyone, as you said!

We are not doing them either. I also want to keep my bouquet and I do not want my fiance going up my dress in front of everyone. We both think that both of these “traditions” are in bad taste.

I also feels it singles out the single girls, and I only have 1 bestie that is single. I had to do it at my BF’s wedding and it was uncomfortable having some random guy go up your leg whil 110+ people watch.

We are not doing an anniversary dance. Most of our guests are older without anyone; like my grandma or single, so we don’t feel like it would be appropriate. We don’t want to make anyone sad.

It’s so funny – I never thought anyone disliked the bouquet/garter toss ’til I came to Weddingbee!! I’m doing both – I always loved trying to catch the bouqet! I actually tackled a few people for one last spring Wink

And for those of you who aren’t throwing your bouquet because you want to keep it – if that’s the only reason – most brides have a different, smaller bouquet just for the toss. (same for the garter)

I am- I think its fun, and I’m getting a separate tossing bouquet so I can keep mine.

First, I’ve always been embarressed for the bride when it comes time for the garter retrival and toss. I don’t want or need all of our family and friends to see my Fiance crawling up my dress to suggestive music. Umm..no thanks. I also think that almost no women like to be called out as single for the bouquet toss. Most weddings I’ve been to they’ve had to drag the women onto the floor and no one ever really tries for the bouquet anyhow. So…we’re skipping them. I don’t think anyone will really care.

I really don’t like the idea of having my Fiance do the garter (how awkward is that?) and I personally felt sooo pressured at bouquet tosses for the last year or so of our dating that I just don’t want to have that for anyone else. Plus, I want to keep my bouquet myself!

we’re not doing either of them, we’re not having the traditional dancing wedding so it’s easy to take out lots of those traditions. like many of you, i have always hated being pointed out as a single girl, plus i really don’t have many single girl friends anyway so that would just be extra mean to make my 3 single friends and relatives stand out there alone. and there’s no way my fi will be going up my skirt in front of all those people.

i hate hate HATE the bouquet toss and garter toss, i always hid in the bathroom at weddings during this. I will either have a throwaway bouquet that i use for an anniversary dance or not do it at all. its so embarrassing for the single women!!!!
