Would you be able to purchase nice, sturdy, clear plastic plates at a big box retail store or grocery store in Canada?

@ncg10:  Where do you live?  I live in Vancouver and there are lots of places in Blaine, WA that offer a mailbox service.

@ncg10:  Please please please do not buy plastic plates for your wedding. I cringe at the thought of creating that much unecessary garbage that will then take hundreds and hundreds of years to decompose (if ever!!). There are plenty of stylish decomposable paper alternatives out there.

These look pretty good/sturdy in person and I have seen them around in Canadian supermarkets:  http://www.barebysolo.com/products.html

I have also seen some stylish ones that look like they are made of thin wood, they also come with wood cutlery, but can’t remember the brand name.

@ncg10:  Have you considered purchasing plates from IKEA? I know you can get them fairly cheap.. not sure if it’s in your budget but at least you wouldn’t have to use plastic.

I would rather spend the $900 to be honest then have plastic plates at a wedding.

@KC-2722: +1! You can get super cheap real china from IKEA, like these ones for $0.79 each! I mean, even if you have 100 guests it’s still cheap! Plus it comes with a matching bowl in case you want to serve soup, salad or dessert.
