….nope, not that kind 😉
Several years ago, I was injured while playing soccer with a youth group I led. I caught a ball full force to the mouth….which scarred my lip pretty badly. It didn’t require stitches, but ended up disfigured anyway. Similar to this, but only on one side-http://www.neelscorner.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/upper-and-lower-lip-reduction-and-contouring_thumb.png (btw, that’s not me…I’m a bit too private to post full face photos online)
I’ve always been self-conscious about it, especially about photographs but hadn’t seriously looked into getting it repaired until recently, both out of nervousness and budget (not covered by insurance). Since starting work in pediatric healthcare, I get a lot of comments from kids (and parents!), asking what happened to my lip…and it just gets embarrassing.
Mr. Jude has been the biggest supporter for me going for the surgery, because he knows how badly I’ve wanted it. We were able to book the surgeon we wanted (the bonus of working in healthcare is knowing people!) and at the end of October I’ll undergo a simple outpatient procedure that will literally change my smile. I can’t wait!
