Bamboo is very green– bamboo regrows very fast, so its more environmentally friendly to use than paper. I’m not sure what it looks like, but if its nice, I’d go for that.

I too would vote bamboo, def. NOT plastic, and paper if it were recycled.  The process in which they are created matters alot too, harmful chemicals etc. 

Have you checked out Preserve?  Its created out of corn so its durable, but then also biodegradable.

Bamboo is really expensive, at least it is at my Whole Foods.

Honestly, if you are trying to save money then I’d stay away from bamboo. Yes, they recycle, but they are so expensive. You might as well almost rent china for the price from what I’ve found. Chinet makes really nice paper plates, without the ugly designs of flowers and stuff on them, and they are thick and sturdy.
