I am having an intimate backyard wedding next summer. My aunt will be making me a small wedding cake for the cake cutting ceremony. We plan to then set the cake on a dessert bar, along with a selection of cakes/pies/squares. I didn’t like the idea of cutting the cake and not having it available for others or asking my aunt to make mulitple cakes, so this seems like a better solution.
I was originally planning on having a plated dessert (we are having a seated dinner), but now I am thinking it will be too much with the dessert bar as well. What do you think?

We had a plated dessert, wedding cake and a late night dessert station with even more cakes and pastries.

We had 3 regular 10″ round cakes (the normal size you’d see in a display case at bakery) for a 70 person wedding and there was a lot left over. I think a dessert bar and plated dessert would be overkill. Save your pennies where you can.

Thanks for your responses!! I do have a sweet tooth, so I know I personally can’t have too much dessert, but I wasn’t sure if everyone else would feel this way too!
