@VolFins:  My e-ring and wedding band are platinum, and I noticed that my e-ring looked scratched underneath two days after I received it.  It didn’t become flat, but it looked, for the lack of a better way to describe it, a bit “wrinkled,” not unlike the way freshly painted nails can somtimes look if you go to bed before all of the layers of polish are completly dry, and you end up with “sheet marks” on them.

ETA:  What WILL bend very easily is sterling silver. I have a pearl ring set in sterling that has a very thin band, and it has morphed into a horrible V shape at the bottom.

@VolFins:  Do you carry heavy shopping bags (like when you go grocery shopping) or anything like that to make it warped? Or lift weights with it on?

Hm. My new set is in platinum, but that’s new. I also have another plantinum ring that belonged to my mother. She wore it and I have worn it everyday for years without any problems at all. Like Brielle said, the only metal I’ve known to bend that easily is sterling silver.

Whoa, I can totally see your ring is not a perfect circle anymore.

I don’t think that is normal. My platinum ring has not changed or altered in over 5 years… but the metal might be a bit thicker than yours.

Platinum can bend over time, especially with a thin and delicate ring. Do you clench the steering wheel? That can make it go out of round. I have yet to have this happen to me, but what you’re experiencing is not unheard of, and a jeweler can easily reshape your ring.

I have a ring that’s weird and a little bent, but it’s white gold (14k) and I’ve worn it every day for almost 7 years. I don’t know if it’s normal or not. I have another white gold ring (10k) that I wear every day (about 4 years now) and it looks normal, but the band is a little thicker.

here’s my bent ring:

Mine is scratched as well but it has retained its shape and it’s a petite ring I have. That is very odd. What type of work do you do?
