Yes, you won't even be able to tell the difference, which means noone else will either! : (7 votes)

No. You should definitely NOT put those two together, and let me tell you why... : (19 votes)

I am thinking of getting sterling silver now and upgrading after the wedding and we are both out of school. I have a palladium engagement ring. I can’t do anything else because I’m a allergic :/ I hope someone has experience with this!

@hfwildcat:  Yeah it sucks being allergic to gold because all of the chain jewelry stores actually have some pretty rings for good prices but they only come in gold and platinum is like an extra $1000?! I don’t know about yellow gold but I’m not going to even bother…

I’ve had sterling silver rings that have lasted me a long time, it would be a huge money saver. Hopefully that works out!

The only problem with silver is that it’s pretty soft, so it can get damaged by everyday wear, so you’d probably have to replace it eventually.

I don’t know if this helps any, but I have a solid sterling silver ring, plated in platinum! It’s been really great so far and was inexpensive. Just a thought πŸ™‚

You should do either platinum or palladium. I would not wear silver with platinum as particles that get stuck in the soft silver will wear away at the platinum over time.

@mrsztobee:  No problem! I go it on Amazon! It’s my temporary e ring. I didn’t want something that would tarnish or turn my finger green. Original price was $90, it was on sale for $26! I’ll attach a pic so you can see. It holds up very well so far! And is very shiny πŸ™‚

No, platinum and sterling silver together will wear eachother down.  Metals of different hardnesses shouldn’t be worn next to eachother for extended periods of time.  Go for the platinum.  Get a super thin one if you need so its cheaper?

@hfwildcat:  Thank you! I only need it to last a few months, but so far it has held up beautifully! I have two little ones and I work at my family’s pizza shop, so it gets a good deal of wear and has very very minimal scratches. I didn’t even know they made platinum plated ss, I stumbled upon it while searching on amazon πŸ™‚
