@McBezel:  It took Tiffany & co 2 weeks to size my new platinum solitaire up to an 8. However since dh gave it to me Valentines day, I figured they were back logged.. Everything goes through NYC although I see you are in Long Island, I would expect it probably will be earlier than 2 weeks.

There are no worries with Tiffany, all their diamonds are laser inscribed on the crown. They can show you the number under the microscope when it is returned. You can match the number to your certificate.

Don’t worry be happy, my ring was absolutely perfect when I got it back (as is always everything they’ve done for me!Smile

Two weeks sounds about right.  My jeweler has to send platinum rings off to be polished as well.  My ring is white gold,  so they polish it while I wait.

I’ve never had mine polished but they sized it in a few days. They also sent it directly to my house which was a plus bc I’m about 1 hour away from the store.

I have a Tiffany platinum ering and band and they do it in the store. Maybe they send out for a more thorough polishing?

Holy crap, two weeks?! I needed my ring polished because I scraped it on something and it was driving me nuts…I went to my jeweler and they did it in literally 5 minutes while I had a glass of wine on my lunch break.  Resizing is one thing, polishing takes two seconds!

@McBezel:  yup. I mean, my situation might be a bit unique because everything is made in-house, but sending a ring off for two weeks for polishing seems excessive. I actually watched the goldsmith polish my ring- it took all of 3-5 minutes total, including a trip in the ultrasonic.

@McBezel:  about a half hour? I dropped it off, grabbed coffee, shopped a little and that was it. I go to the Tiffany store in downtown Boston (Copley Plaza) so you might be right about bigger metro locations.

@McBezel:  Its a differnt kind of polishing than just regular polishing. If it is white gold there is no such thiing as white gold in nature and what they do is like “recoat” it. I had the same worries about my ring when they told me that. I cant remember the name but its like rhodium plating or coating or something. It makes your ring shine like its brand new and its a great idea to do right before the wedding.

@bkrocks13:  actually- resizing only takes mere minutes as well- in most cases.  I had an 18k gold/platinum ring resized and polished- it looks brand new and the resizing was perfect- it literally took 10 minutes tops!!

It seems like every repair from Tiffanys takes forever because they send it out to NYC.  I have several sterling silver pieces from there….it took them 10 days to repair a broken chain and two weeks to size a sterling silver ring.  They do great work but it takes way too long!
