Has anyone ever done this?
Fiance and I are huge musicians, we both play multiple instruments and met by improvising together one boring summer day. We can’t imagine throwing a big party without jamming onstage with our friends. Fiance suggested that we get a couple of our buddies to play drums/sing with us. We both want to do costume changes…woohoo ninties flannel and flares! Are we nuts for trying to do this? I’ve been in weddings and the brides always seemed to have loads of extra time sitting around and chatting and such, so it seemed like we would be enough time without feeling pressured to fit everything in. But maybe not?
We’re thinking 4 songs throughout the 6 hr party. We’ve got all the equipment so we wouldn’t have to pay for anything, and would have an iPod reception for the rest of it.
Just for fun, we’re thinking of doing:
Two Princes by Spin Doctors
Day Tripper by the Beatles
Lola by the Kinks
And asking guests for their requests and picking one from those.
Nuts? Or fun idea?

One of the best weddings I’ve ever been to was when two people who had studied music in college had their friends make up a jazz band that played during part of the reception. It was so much fun to get everyone playing in such a cool atmosphere and I know that the groom played for a bit, too.

I think that sounds awesome!
As long as it’s not something you’re going to be stressing over in those weeks/days leading up to the wedding, i say go for it.

love the idea. Although you probably aren’t going to want to change out of your wedding dress. 🙂

@rebwana: Yeah that’s one thing I mentioned to Fiance, and he said a chick jamming on the guitar in a wedding dress would make some great photos…haha

I tink it’s a great idea. My Fiance is also a musician and we’re planning on having him play with his band, just 2-3 songs so they can jam and change it up a little. I like weddings where you see the couple’s personalities shine through.

Awesome idea. Now I will have Two Princes stuck in my head all evening. 🙂
