@Mrs Hedgehog: uh…. I think everyone has done this at least once!  (I have!)  I said I was sick, was told to feel better, and that was it.  BUT, I’m also a tech, so it’s never been a huge problem.

At my FI’s workplace, it’s different, but they also have sick time they HAVE to use, or they loose it.  So, people call in sick and (usually) don’t get squawked at for it.

I have before. I had to lie at my old job, got caught once, but I was friends with my manager so I told him to get over it, and he did lol. My most current job, my boss was totally fine with me just saying I needed a day off just because. As long as I have the time, and she wasn’t planning on taking that day off, she had no issues whatsoever. Now, I work for myself, so I can take off whenever I want.

Can I ask what kind of teaching you do that requires night shifts? Or did I misread that?

@Mrs Hedgehog: I knew about the police officer, which I thought was nights, which is why i was confused about you teaching at night. But that makes total sense, man woman you are amazing!!! 🙂

I dont’ think you should feel bad about it, you deserve to have a night off. Is there anyway that you can go down to 1 or 2 nights a week instead of 3??

Is the recovery class just a volunteer type thing or is this desperate pay you need?

It may be in your interest to start easing up your schedule a bit- the lack of sleep is what gets people sick and throws off your body

Its okay to play sick! Best of luck!

@Mrs Hedgehog:  I have!  Hedgie, it sounds like you could use that time off from that job, like you really don’t want to be there.  Maybe you need some support or encouragement to find a way out!  Or maybe you just need encouaragement to survive while you feel you have to.  I fully support a wellness day- or two- because you need to do something for you- whether literally resting or enjoying yourself somewhere else- don’t even sweat it.  Otherwise, you could end up actually sick.

Darling Husband worked fulltime and went to school fulltime the last two years- for demanding Graphic Design program and a job in sales.  Sometimes, he literally just physically could not do it all and he had to get sleep.  Do what you have to do for you 😉

One time when I was younger I pretended like my throat hurt to get out of school. My mom took me to the doctor and it turned out that I had strep throat. haha, I think they got my results switched with someone else because I never felt bad at all 😀

Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!

Yes, the problem is I usually called in “sick” after the holiday party. Good thing my manager thought “hungover” was a valid reason to miss work.

I haven’t since college, because I’ve actually been sick too much as it is :/  I’m pretty sure my stomach hates me, and doctors have been no help thus far.  Grrr.
