So over the last 4-5 months I have been experiencing “issues” with dryness and itching right around the time of my period! Its like overnight it just happens. I have tried everything thinking it was just an allergic reaction to something but no matter what I change it come back. I have been on BC for right around 6 months. Could that have something to do with it? No odd smell or discharge (am I grossing you out yet?) No, it isnt an STD. Of that I am sure. Does this happen to anyone else? I have talked to my doc about it and becuase it goes away on its own and there is no smell or discharge she isnt sure what it could be besides maybe PH being off? Someone please have an answer for me lol I AM HATING THIS!!!

@wife05: Sounds like it might be low estrogen– estrogen levels decrease quite a lot just before and during one’s period (that’s why some people, even young women, get hot flashes at that time of the month!). Hormonal birth control really screws hormones up; perhaps you’re having this problem because you go off the active pills onto the placebo pills, and then your body isn’t getting the hormones (including estrogen) it’s accustomed to.
I’ve been having other issues stemming from low estrogen, after getting off the pill, and I’m taking capsules of an herb called Black Coshosh, which is a very useful women’s herb that helps with low estrogen. It has worked SO well for me, I finally feel pretty much normal after 3 months of hormonal insanity! I also just (like, two hours ago) discovered it completely removes menstrual cramps, at least for the moment.
Try putting coconut oil in there to alleviate the dryness and itching. If that doesn’t help the itching by itself, add a few drops of tea tree oil– that will tingle in a minty way and take all the itch away. Of course, don’t use coconut oil if you are using condoms. . . in that case, aloe gel (the pure kind, sold at health food stores, not the kind sold in drugstores for sunburn) with some tea tree oil mixed in should be fine.
Hope this helps!

@Creiddylad: Thank you for the reply! I was wondering if it was from BC because it acts like a yeast infection but is not at all. Its weird and I hate felling icky in that area (we all do i am sure) I will try the oils and see if they help! Sex is deff off the table when this happens!
