I would choose speech but I don’t like touching people so I am going solely on the assumption that occupational therapy would involve more touching than speech therapy.

I’ve always thought being a speech pathologist would be awesome, so I voted for it based on that.

I know a couple different people in speech pathology and they really enjoy it.  I certainly don’t know a lot about either field though.

I almost went to school to be a speech pathologist. I honestly still might go back…. so I voted that 🙂

@careerhelp:  Haha… did you choose Journalism? Because that’s what I chose. No jobs out there… oops. 🙁 I would go with occupational therapist – technology can’t really eliminate that one.

@careerhelp:  My advice – research job opportunities in your area / the area you want to live and see what field is hiring. It’s great to have the education and training, but if you have no opportunity to actually work then it’s all for nothing (hello teachers’ college in Southern Ontario).

@careerhelp:  I voted occupational therapy because the “baby boomers” are only going to increase in the next couple decades and occupational/physical therapy will only go up in demand. I would look into shadowing at each occupation before seriously applying to schools to get an idea about what each career encompasses and also some solid advice from the professionals about their job fields.

@careerhelp:  Oh. Well, so long as the opportunity to work exists and the salaries are similar, choose what makes you happy. You will be spending more time at work than at home, so you might as well be happy.

I’d also consider career growth and where the typical salary range stalls. I’d hate to have my salary capped.
