That’s awesome that you love your job and treat bride’s right! I had an absolutely awful experience with David’s Bridal despite me being very cooperative and nice to them and it left a really bad taste in my mouth. Glad to know there are some great consultants out there!

Thank you for being a sweet and considerate bridal consultant. I was VERY nice to the lady that helped me try on dresses at David’s and she was HORRENDOUS. I will never stop foot in there again. Glad to know there are some consultants that take the time to make it a special experience for the bride and her posse.

Thanks for being one of the good ones!  To be honest, I’ve had 3 different consultants, ALL at David’s Bridal, and they were all GREAT!  You can always tell when people enjoy their jobs. 🙂

ETA because I started this post 40 minutes ago and just got off the phone to read the more recent comments after I clicked post:

For the record, I like David’s Bridal because all my experiences there have been positive.  But hey, I like shopping at Wal-Mart, too, so according to you, there’s probably something sub-par about my shopping choices. 🙂

@tinylittlebird: I understand that you do not work for David’s. I was just writing about my bad experience with a bridal consultant who just so happened to work for David’s.

That is a great post to remind people, but I would extend it beyond just bridal consultants to all retail and customer service individuals. I spent many a years working long and difficult hours in those arenas while putting myself through school. People are there to help you and you are more likely to get further being nicer.

Just a good Public Service Announcement during this holiday season. Happy shopping wedding and Not Wedding Related. Smile

@Juliepants: I love Walmart!! Hehe! I had such high hopes for David’s but it fell flat. I only went there to try on one dress (which I ended up purchasing…the only one I tried on!) My friends even complained about how bad they treated me. It’s a shame because they really do have some nice dresses there!

@Legallyblondiebride: That sucks!  I’ve heard negative stories about them, but the location I went to was great.  That sort of happened to me, too – there’s a store in Toronto I had been planning on going to with my mom forEVER.  It was the first dress store we went to after I got engaged.  The people there were very rude, it was next to impossible to even find out the price of a dress let alone try it on, consultants huddled in the corner on the phone and ignored new customers walking in…..you can definitely find good and bad service anywhere!

@Juliepants: So true!! I’ve heard many great stories about David’s! So glad you had a great experience there!! People in my area tend to be a tad rude anyway…probably just a reflection of demographics, not the company!

I’m glad you’re enjoying your job so far.

I was SO nice to my consultant, but she was terrible.  She was very inattentive, rude, and not helpful at all.  As she was unlacing me from a dress, I was telling her about where we were getting married (because she asked!) and she walks out in the middle of my story, which was short.  Then everytime I was in a dress she’d walk away, and when she’d come back and she’d just look at me and say, “next dress?” like she didn’t like what I was wearing.  I didn’t love her or the experience, but I did buy a dress that day only because we drove 3 hours to try on there because of prices, and I didn’t want it to be a wasted trip.  I wish she didn’t get my commission, but oh well I guess.  I’ve moved on now.  I don’t think I’ll ever forget her name or face though. lol

@tinylittlebird: Thanks for this reminder that bridal consultants are hard-working people and that many of you are genuinely kind and caring. I’m one of those lucky brides who only ever worked with amazing consultants. Seriously, I never felt pressured to buy, my consultants listened to what I wanted and were always incredibly engaging and pleasant, and they made each dress shopping experience fun and relaxing. Thanks for all the hard and amazing work that you do!
