I walked the aisle to “for you I will” by Monica. I have not heard anyone walked down to that song but that’s my favorite song and I knew I was going to get married to the song!

I honestly don’t pay attention to the music for the ceremony or first dance at all.

@Jacquelinesc84:  I think I Wanna Marry You – Bruno Mars.

Seriously women, its in the name – who THINKS he wants to marry you?

My most hated lines include:

We’re looking for something dumb to do.
Hey baby, I think I wanna marry you.
If we wake up and you wanna break up that’s cool.

Im a lyric person, if the lyrics aren’t good Im not happy. I have had 5 people so far mention this song and EVERY one gets a quick “Why would I play a song about a man who thinks he wants to marry someone, while they are drunk, because its a dumb thing to do and doesn’t care if she wants a divorce the next morning!”

I have a friend who attended a wedding recently where the bride walked down the aisle to “Better Man” by Pearl Jam.

For those of you unfamiliar, here’s the main line from the chorus: “She lies and says she’s in love with him, can’t find a better man”

She said people were pretty shocked when they realized it was that song.  It’s about settling and not being able to find anyone better!!!

The song that you choose for your first dance doesn’t have to be a slow romatic one – just have meaning for the two of you…something you relate to or like.  Before ceremony or walking down aisle I would keep it should have the “feeling” or set the mood you want to share.

I did this for my friend at her bridal shower: have everyone write down a song for ceremony & dance. Make a game out of it by pulling them out of a hat and try to guess who wrote it.  It will also give you an idea of what they are thinking.

My ex was no genius, he wanted his favorite song to be our first dance  “Under my thumb” by Rolling Stones – that was a big NO!

We had a dance for entire wedding party before the floor was open to all guests – but there was a jealous girlfriend so it couldn’t be a slow song. We opted to have fun…pulled out sunglasses and danced to old song “I wear my sunglasses at night” – was a hit & people were anxious to dance.

That marraige was doomed, but doing something different (in good taste or bad) – people remember.  Now I’m off to Happier Ever After with Mr. Right!
