Hi and congrats on your wedding!  I love the idea of going back and taking some pictures and including them in a vow renewal invite.  I don’t think a cocktail reception is cheap, lots of people do that, and I think since it’s a vow renewal people’s expectations may be a bit smaller anyway.  Just make sure the wording on the invite indicates that it’s a cocktail reception, and you may want to start it later so people have time to eat beforehand.  I think you should still keep your attendants (especially since you still want a shower), but maybe have their duties be less; maybe they could pick their own dress, etc.  If you want a shower I think you can still have one, but if it’s not about the gifts maybe have it be a bridal luncheon or something else.  That way you’ll still have the celebration, but without the expectation of gifts.  And have a bachelorette too–just call it a girls night and don’t go risque.

Congratulations Mrs.MarriedAlready25 to you and the Mr.!  I agree with the previous posters.  I’m sure your friends and family would be happy to join you in the celebration.  And, a cocktail party would be a wonderful way to celebrate.  Best Wishes.

Just have fun and relax! My Fiance and I just went to a vow renewal that was more like an actual wedding and it was lovely! They even had a wedding party since they did before! But the couple did a small church ceremony renewing their vows, and then we went to a hall for the reception! People will want to celebrate, no matter if this is a vow renewal or not!
