I visited Swedish American Museum a few weeks ago, the price is now $1200.  This does include tables and chairs and they now have 16 parking spots in a nearby parking lot.  They have a built in projector if you want to do a slide show and the Karin, the event coordinator mentioned that they are working on building in a sound system that would be available for use. While we didn’t end up going with it, it is definitely the most inexpensive venue I could find in Chicago.

@calendula:  I am having my wedding here. The total price is $1000 ($200 staff fee) but tables and chairs are included. There are a lot of DIY balls to juggle with this venue that might be hard to juggle from far away. I recommend ArTango. They are $200 an hour which includes tables chairs lights ect. They also have on sight tapas and you can bring your own bar. It’s also really pretty so you won’t need to rent any extra decor or linens. i think you could get away with maybe a vase with a flower on each table. At SAM I am having to spend a lot on decorations.

@maenadinchicago:  I think you replied to the wrong lady! I’ve booked a venue downtown already (for September 27, 2014! We share a wedding weekend, yay to us!). OP would probably find your answer super useful, though, so I’ll tag her –

@Mrsdontelewis:

My venue- on a Saturday is around 2500 it holds up to 125.

On a Sunday/Friday it was 1500ish (we went with a Sunday for other reasons, date specific)

Our caterer is a non-profit organic and our food is under a grand for 80 people…it is POSSIBLE.

if you want info on this stuff message me please!

@momo2003:  Hey! No, we haven’t booked anything officially as of yet. But I do have a whole bunch of venues that I e-mailed and am waiting for pricing. ๐Ÿ™‚ How about you?

@vivalasylvia:  I received my engagement ring two weeks…so I’m just starting to look at venues and stuff.  It’s a daunting task!  I’m looking for a venue that will allow outside caterer of my choice and will allow byob.  I found that there aren’t many to choose from.  My first choice was floating world gallery–but they are booked for summer/fall next year.  ๐Ÿ™

@momo2003:  I got mine on 10/19, so just a week before yours! ๐Ÿ™‚ Unfortunately, I had to ship it off to MCo today b/c I already had issues with the ring (side stones falling out, prong not holding the center stone).

I’m doing the same as well, BYOB & outside catering. How many guests are you looking to have?

My first choice is Prairie Productions but I haven’t heard much back from them other than pricing and availability on date.

@vivalasylvia:  Sorry to hear about your ring.  I hope MCo resolves the issue right away.  I saw your ring on another post, and it’s lovely.  Congrats  ๐Ÿ™‚

We’re thinking about 130 guests.  I heard good reviews about prairie productions, but haven’t looked into them yet.
