I’m hoping someone else has been in the same boat as me! Am looking for advise on what to do.
basically I rused into buying a dress as soon as I got engaged, I absolutely fell in love with the dress as did my moh and bm I had with me at the time, I booked another appointment after I’d brought the dress and showe’d my mum, she cried.
Fast forward a couple weeks and dreaded dress regret kicks in, I book another appointment to see my dress and that awful feeling of dread washed over me when I put it on, I hated it 🙁 so this was all aroumd September last year, and since then iv tried on numerous more dresses, non of which have made me feel the way my dress did when I first put it on!
i have an appointment soon to try on maggie April again as Ito the only dress I put on since Mine that I really liked, mum is coming with me.
now my current brought and paid for dress is on eBay, and I was just looking at the photos of it when the origional feelings of love for the dress started to emerge, it would just need a few alterations to be perfect,
basically I am very confused! I keep having feelings that 100% I hate the dress and I’m selling it, then I feel like its so special and nothing else has made me feel the same. It’s a one off design, has the wow factor and I Must have loved it when I paid right?
Oh and iv just ended the listing on eBay cus I actually think I’d be upset if someone brought it!
why do I keep changing my mind? Will I feel different about the dress on the wedding day with all my hair and make up done? Or will I regret not buying another more elegant dress?
I do have time on my side, although at th moment that doesn’t help. As I keep changing my mind 🙁 any help greatly greatly appreciated, thank you 🙁

Stop looking at other dresses! There are so many pretty dresses out there a girl wishes she could get married 50 times to wear them all 🙂 But you said yourself that none of the dresses your tried on afterwards made you feel as special as the first one. Remember that feeling and hold on to it. You will definitely feel different about your dress with your hair and make up done, it makes a huge difference. How about you try to do your hair and make up yourself and put on the dress to reassure you that you look great in it? That might help.
Oh, and do you by any chance have a picture of the dress? I’m curious 🙂

Thank you :Wei was so set that I couldn’t wear the dress I had made up my mind to sell it and buy a new one, I hence the trying on of other dresses.
Im just so worried mine is “big fat gypsy wedding” but I’m hoping to alter it to- no ruffles/pick ups, and having the arms/top bit altered into a bolaro shape so I can wear a neckless, I’m just so confused 🙁 I was a million percent suwe I hate the dress! Now Iv needed the eBay listing. I’m confused! 🙁
and for the pic…..sorry they’re so huge :-/

I think you look fantastic in that dress, as is. it’s beautiful on you, the sleeves are adorable and I don’t think you should have any regrets!

I had major dress regret too because I kept looking at dresses after I got mine. Still have second thoughts here and there, but I know there was no other dress that could’ve topped mine. I tried on quite a few dresses and this was by far my absolutely favorite. You look stunning in your dress! And seriously, if you already felt amazing in it when you bought it, then you’ll feel amazing in it on your wedding day. ;D Do yourself a favor and stop looking and trying on other dresses.

Wow, that dress is AMAZING! I love the sleeves as they are and frankly I think altering them to be able to wear a necklace would ruin the look – you already have a sparkly belt, a necklace would make everything look too busy, In My Humble Opinion. And the ruffles look so glamorous. If it were my dress, I’d leave it as it is, it’s perfect! And you look absolutely stunning in it.

I think the shape on you is amazing, the only thing I would consider changing is making it less poofy. Is there crinoline underneath? Can you take some out? I think that would make it less “gypsy” 🙂

@Dawn1234: I love love LOVE the top half of your dress, but the bottom half is a bit gypsy wedding at the moment. I think removing the pick-ups would make a world of difference, and maybe streamlining the skirt to a slightly less voluminous a-line.
But with the neckline, I would leave it exactly as it is…you see of boleros but I really love the way the illusion neckline is now. I think changing it would lose the glamour of the style!

Remove the pick ups and it would be awesome and unique. I have not seen another dress with sleeves like that, and they make it special (though I suppose shorter sleeves would work too).
The silhouette is pefect for you, and the sparkle is perfect for your colouring/skin tones.
The only thing that’s wrong with it is that, at present it’s got a lot going on. Take out the pick-ups and it will look so much better.

Thank u ladies so much, i your comments really do help!
I hate feeling this way and I’m literally so confused, I have an appointment to try on April which I had to pay £50 to get in the sample, also I just rang the shop where my dress is and made another appointment to try on the origional dress.
I just don’t feel mine is elegant enough, fi family all wore elegant straight up and down wedding dresses, little sparkle etc. so I don’t want to rock up at th church in a disco glitter ball and them all think I look silly and not an elegant bride 🙁
the April dress made me feel elegant and pretty but not the same feeling that my dress gabe me. Argh so annoying 🙁
if I alter it the pick ups have to go, I love aline clean and straight, maybe even amaze it a tullE skirt. The top I’m veering towards either chopping off the arms or leaving all together. Decisions decisions. This is the only aspect of the wedding I’m struggling with!

April- my other choice. I just wish I’d waited!

@Dawn1234: I still like yours better than the one you just posted. I have seen the other one a million times before. Yours is more unique.
My concern with removing pick-ups is that it might leave marks on the dress – but then you could put another layer or two of tulle over the top to cover that. It also looks like you have plenty of fabric in the skirt to create a more pleated effect like in the second dress. But I’m far from a dressmaker, so it’s probably worth taking it to one to ask their opinions.
You could also alter the neckline of the illusion layer from a high-neck to a v-neck, and shorten the sleeves to just below the elbow – think Kate Middleton – and you can’t get much classier than that.

I love it,…but I’m a ball gown girl so that’s probably why LOL.
What is it that it doesn’t have that you wish it did?
