So a bit about me; I’m a 29 year old 80s rock fan who spends half her life in jeans and the other half in black midi skirts. I thought I’d end up with a boho type wedding dress, and then I went and fell IN LOVE with a sparkly Hayley Paige ballgown.
Bees, I m not a plain veil/white lily bouquet/ pearl earrings kinda girl – how do I accessorise this gown and still be me? Im looking for the unusual…

Well first of all I really wouldn’t classify that as a conventional gown so your half way there already. It is stunning by the way.
As to your question, I personally think the veil is the most visually bridal part of the outfit even more so than the dress at time because I know some occasions where you wear a formal dress but 0 where you typically wear a veil. So if a long cathedral veil is the most “conventional” in this case, and without knowing much else about your wedding I think you could rock a unconventional non-veil like headpiece. Bird cage veil with feathers? Flower Crown with crazy colours? Fascinater? I don’t think you really have to worry if it’s you, you clearly love it so it’s you. Find other things you love and you will look amazing.

MrsBaconBear : That dress is just stunning! I’m a minimalist when it comes to accessories (sorry); maybe avoid a necklace since the top of the dress has so much detail/sparkle already?
I really LOVE dark nail polish for a bride (think wine, burgandy, eggplant, charcoal, navy, etc.). It’s edgy and fun and interesting. Good luck!

I’d do a fabulous fascinator (maybe with feathers and a bit of sparkle) rather than a veil.

Personally, I would go no veil, big bouncy blow out, big statement earrings, and a colorful bouquet (e.g. hot pink if spring/summer or wine if fall/winter).

MrsBaconBear : Here’s my suggestion – hat and rubber bracelet – inspired by two great 1980s icons of the music scene: Madonna and Cyndi Lauper.

When I clicked on this post I thought I would recommend statement jewelry, but since your bodice already has enough sparkle (It really is a stunning dress!!!) I’m not sure much jewelry is needed.
I think that birdcage veils can be very punk rock. Despending on how bold you want to be, I’ve also seen black veils for sale.
I love the idea of black nail polish (I work in the arts and I wear black nail polish all the time to an othewise professional office. It can be very chick!)

Oh my goodness I would love to see this dress with a Cyndi Lauper kind of edge to it! But those veils you posted are pretty funky too. I’d probably go for a chunky-ish choker/necklace and I do like the idea of the hat too if you’re a hat kinda gal.

MrsBaconBear : I would do a single large black flower worn just behind the ear with a thin ribbon worn like a headband or a black lace kind of piece. Black statement earring and a black bracelet. I’d do a bold lip in a darker tone and a dark nail like a PP suggested.
I think that would still look classic but edgy to match your dress.

MrsBaconBear : Oh damn are those veil pictures from Crown and Glory?! I was just going to comment with a link and some images from their website because I thought they would be perfect for you.
I think your dress is stunning and not conventional at all! I think some vampy makeup and a fun Crown and Glory veil would bring the whole look together beautifully. Maybe even some edgy shoes (ankle boots?) and a cool hairpiece?

apracticalbride : They are! I have my shoes (holographic tbars from irregular choice) I’m now feeling veil for ceremony and hat for reception…

80s rock as in Madonna? Try a smakk black bolero (leather!), black bird cage veil and black shoes.
If you use nailpolish: have that black too
