I really like both of these dresses. I wanted to feel like a princess on my wedding and orginally picked the tulle gown. But after reading that petite women should avoid ballgowns, I decided to try on a few more gowns. Also the ballgown covers the stomach pooch I have. I’ve always been a chubby all my life so I’m really insecure that a ballgown will make me appear fatter in photos. I’m 115 lbs. I think I’m peared shaped because I tried on alot of mermaid styles and it made me look bigger (my hips) The second gown makes me feel prettier because I think it makes me appear slimmer, but it doesn’t have that “princess” feel to it. I’m also concerned the second dress might show my tummy because its so fitted. I’m 5’2″ tall. All the ladies at the wedding botique suggests the ballgown, whereas my mom likes the fitted dress better. It’s my first time posting to this site and any sincere advice or suggestion would greatly be appreciated.

@Mimeegurl: It’s really a close call because both dresses are equally beautiful but totally different. I think you look like a doll in both but my favorite on you is the more fitted dress.

To be honest I don’t really love either but I do think a more fitted style is better for you!!

Honestly, I don’t love either. I think they both a look too young, maybe a little prom-ish. I like the 1st best, but you are gorgeous and would look amazing in so many gowns. I just wasn’t wowed by either.

The first one is too boring for you. I like the ballgown style on you the best but I think you should keep looking. You could look amazing in a simple tulle ball gown

Chubby?! You are teensy! I personally love the ballgown on you, you look like a princess!

I agree with pp, you look like a princess in the ballgown! It’s absolutely beautiful.

I like the fitted gown on you. You look very slim in it. I think the ball gown is a little overwhelming on your petite frame and you look a little lost in it. A ballgown could still work for you but maybe a drop waist or something where it flares out a little lower.

@Mimeegurl: I forgot to mention that my wedding is July 2013. I’ve tried on so many gowns at Davids Bridal and Casablanca styles.

I love the ballgown on you and since that’s what you originally wanted and loved, I think you should go with that. You don’t look fat at all (!) and you’re not too short for a ballgown. I would say some rather large gowns can be overpowering on shorter girls but yours isn’t and I don’t think you should discount what you love based on any “advice.”

I think that particular ballgown is a little overwhelming on you because the skirt has so many layers going all over the place and it doesnt, in my opinion, really go with the top of the dress (lots of layers there, too, so the whole thing just has lines going every which way). To me, there’s no flow to it. That said, I think you’d look lovely in a different dress of the same cut. Of just the two you posted, I like the more fitted one better.
I think that’s more important is how you feel, though. It doesn’t matter as much, I don’t think, how you look in a dress if you don’t feel super comfortable in it, because that’s going to show in how you cary yourself, and will be on your mind the day of the wedding. If you feel now that what you really want is a ballgown, I think you should wear a ballgown.

@Mimeegurl: I love the ballgown on you! You definitely look like a princess in it!

@Mimeegurl: So I rarely pick a ball gown or tulle in a poll, because I love fitted and lace style gowns. In this case, however, I LOVE the ball gown on you! You look like a beautiful princess in it! And you definitely do not look big in either one.

I would hardly call 5’2″ and 115 pounds chubby. . . Anyway, I think a more fitted gown would be lovely on you, just not that one. Not a fan of the ball gown on you. Have you tried a more fit and flare gown? That would give you a nice shape and some fullness on the bottom for a bit of a princessy feel.

they are both nice dresses but that ballgown does swallow you up a bit.
you look great in the fitted dress.
i would actually like to see you in more dresses.
