Do you DIY a lot of things?  Are you crafty?  If so you can sell your stuff at etsy.com  I’m a full time mommy that stay at home and I sell my stuff at etsy.com but you should spend more time with your child once he/she is born until a year you’ll could do more of your own stuff.  I didn’t start selling after my daughter’s first b-day.

Good Luck!

Write a blog! Within a year it can easily replace your entire salary in ad revenue. Choose a niche subject that you know well, and write every day. Just be sure to meet with a tax advisor and set up the propoer business model so you don’t get burned at tax time.

Mmmmm.  Be aware that you really need child care even if you work at home, if you’re seriously working.  I have several friends who tele-commute to be at home with their young children – one is a planner/scheduler, one is a computer programmer, and one does database management.  It’s not that hard to find a company that will support telecommuting anymore.  But you simply can’t put in even an hour of uninterrupted work if you don’t have someone looking after the baby.  While they are young enough to sleep a lot, so will you – whenever they do, if you’re smart.  When they stop sleeping all the time, they pretty much require your attention (or someone’s attention.)  Working at home can be a great situation in that you get to see your child more often during the work day (whenever you take a break) be prepared to find that in order to get the uninterrupted time you need to get anything done, you need to pay someone to come in a babysit.

I’m not a mom, but when I was little and my mom went back to work my neighbor (who didn’t work outside the home so she could be home with her kids) babysat me and my sister.

I’m not suggesting an illegal daycare or anything, but perhaps you could supplement your income by babysitting?
