Hello Bees so i have a few choices to go with for halloween and i need opinions. I am going with a black and gold theme with touches of red and orange. I am having our wedding at angel orensanz. I am going for a Dracula’s castle feel. Here are my options:
Skulls ( The cake, table cards, favors, etc..)
Witch (Spell book menus quirky touches)
A very opulent looking masquerade
Tim Burton inspired
I do not want it too feel tacky I am having candleabras on each of the tables along with florals and black linens. I want undertones of halloween without going overboard. Problem is I have too many ideas and need to stick with one. Any feedback would be great!!!!

Based on this quotation: “I do not want it too feel tacky I am having candleabras on each of the tables along with florals and black linens. I want undertones of halloween without going overboard.”
I would choose opulent masquerade. The others feel, well, at least overboard. Halloween is tricky because it can easily veer into a caricature. I think an opulent masquarade would be gorgeous!

@The Pumpkin Queen: Do whatever you want! Most of mainstream society will think the Halloween theme is tacky, even with a masquerade. Doesn’t matter. Do what you like. If the guests have a problem with it, well, no one is forcing them to attend!

I like the witch idea. I think you can do it classy. It’s halloween go all out!

I understand not wanting to go overboard and ending up with a “tacky” event. I’m having a Christmas theme wedding and I feel the EXACT same way.
Since it’s YOUR day, do whatever YOU want!! If you start to feel like you’re approaching the “tacky” line, ask your Maid/Matron of Honor or BMs to see what they think.

I think opulent masquerade or Tim Burton-esque could get your feel across nicely! I think the key is to balancing Halloweeny-TYPE things (candelabras, pumpkins (maybe nice white pumpkins, or other gourds), and not going overboard (bright orange and black, etc). I think you can definitely pull this off! 🙂 Love Halloween-type weddings. Lots of directions you could go here.

I think Tim Burton inspired would give you a lot of flexibility and let you be eccentric without being kitchy. I found a couple of things with a google search.

do you have any pictures/inspiration boards?

Fiance and I are having a halloween wedding but we our theme is “Old Haunted Hollywood. My inspiration is the Tower of Terror in Disney World.
I think the masquerade theme would be the most classy, and it would be fun. Though I LOVE the tim burton themed wedding idea, I am a huge burton fan.

I voted for masquerade because I originally wanted to have a masquerade ball wedding around Halloween but Fiance didn’t like the idea, so we went for a generic fall theme earlier in October. I envisioned something like the ball scene in Labyrinth, with everyone in fancy masks (which would double as wedding favors.) The fact that people will be wearing masks will definitely bring the Halloween element into it, without looking too cheesy.

These are alot of the ideas i have already looked at or decided on. I love the centerpieces. I am also walking down the isle to “The Snow dance” from Edward scisorhands. I love the idea of naming my tables after characters, movies that relate to halloween. And thanks for the labrinyth reference I love that movie and that was how I see things. The vodka will be my favors. But as far as everthing else I am still playing around with different ideas.

Wow, I’m loving all of this inspiration! I also love the witch/magic book idea. 🙂

I LOVE the first two photos you posted with the candelabras and red roses and candles. I think that looks GORGEOUS and definately gives off a halloween vibe. I don’t know how I feel about the spiders/skulls in the other pictures. I think they can be done, but it will be super tricky to do it without crossing into tacky-ville.
I think one of your above ideas was awesome- the spellbook menu. Another similar idea would be to have special drinks with names like witches brews.
on a different note: are you in bridal reflections? that is where I bought my dress!

I am in bridal reflections lol!!! I really did not want to go there because the massapequa salon left a bad taste in my mouth after my sister in laws wedding. But i went there for one dress and ended up with something completely different.
