Hello everyone! I need your opinions! I will be getting married August 10, 2013 and I was wondering: Would it be tacky to have a winter theme for the reception? The reception will be held in a ski lodge, so I was hoping that it would be ok.

I think that theme at a ski lodge would be lovely and perfectly fitting.
Welcome to the Hive. I can’t wait to see what you plan.

I don’t think it’d be tacky — it’d probably be a welcome theme in the middle of summer! Just realize that your guests will be in summer clothing…

I think that is a great idea!

It definitely wouldn’t be tacky, but I would find it . . . weird. What exactly do you mean by winter theme?

@oneofthesethings: When I say winter theme, I’m thinking a color scheme of blue and silver with purple accents. I also love the silver glittery trees for centerpieces! I wanted to have blue uplighting and those centerpices with candles to give a wintery feel to my reception I guess.

I think it’s fine. It’s your wedding afterall. We’re getting married in April and our colors are cranberry red and charcoal grey. So…yeah. Do what you feel fits you the best. :0)

I think it would be pretty but I would go with more of a “cozy, romantic, warm” theme than “winter”. I think calling it a winter theme in August is going to throw people off. However, you are the bride and it’s your decision! 🙂 Wording it a little differently should nix any naysaying though 🙂

Definitely it’s fitting if you’re having it at a ski lodge.
