I’ve been searching everywhere for a dress and haven’t found one that I am in love with. I found a dress that I really liked but it is a knockoff of another designer dress, yet the store told me that it was in the Private Collection by Rita.
I search everywhere online and found nothing. The store told me that it was worth $2200 but that if I took the dress off the rack they would knock it down to $1100.
I know that this store marks up its dresses alot above MSRP because they had a Casablanca dress that I had priced at another store (1100) for $1400. $400 above MSRP.
With this said I know that the knockoff dress really isn’t worth 2200 or 1100, and the question is, should I really pay $1100 for a dress that I don’t even know the quality of? Or should I keep looking and find a dress with a reputable designer that I know the cash value of?

I don’t know that I’d pay $1100 for a knock off. Is there anyway to research the knockoff designer?

They didn’t want to tell me anything at the store. I couldn’t even look at the label if there was one. Shady right?

Yeah, for the fact that they are selling a knock off in a bridal dress store seems shady. And paying $1100 for a knock off is very steep.
I wore a knock off dress that was custom made, and the reason I did that is b/c I wanted some changes that the original dress had & my dress was only $188!!

I agree with the other girls, — i’m not sure I’d buy a knockoff from that salon, simply because you could be sacrifcing quality of fabrics, tailoring, etc. and still paying a pretty penny! another option is to find the dress you love on oncewed.com or preownedweddingdresses.com. there are a lot of girls on this site that have had wonderful success buying their gowns there, saving a lot of cash & getting exactly what they want! good luck!!

Yea, that was my thought, I just needed to hear it from somebody else.
I was thinking of a custom made but I don’t know how/where to find someone who makes them in San Antonio, TX?
AnnieAAA how did you find your dress maker?

@ Jackie_t4701: I ordered it from a dressmaker directly from China. I first learned about him in the book “Bridal Bargains” and then researched through blogs and talked to other girls that ordered from him. He had all great reviews, so I went for it! The dress was amazing & I am so happy with my choice! You can PM me and I’ll give you more details if your interested.
