I went through this same dilema and most of our guests would have preferred we didn’t use their long weekend for our wedding.  Especially if no one has to travel a long way to get there.  I’d go with the 4th or 25th.

@jjmomma: I agree with you…the 4th and the 25th seem the safest, plus you will save money on the flowers as an added bonus.

no long weekend weeding..i went to one and it was out of town traffic was bad and hotels were way more expensive… I say Feb 11th, that my wedding date!!

Flowers in general in the month of Feb are crazy so no matter what day you pick good luck!

Typically I would say avoid long weekends b/c people make travel plans,  but I dont know how much traveling people really account for in the dead of winter in Canada.  If you’re really insecure about it just pick the 25th and avoid both iffy dates.

I voted for the end of February because there is almost no chance anyone would be waiting to celebrate V-Day that far after the actual day. Also, maybe you will have better chance of not paying inflated V-day prices for flowers. I didnt choose the long weekend only because guests may want to save that weekend for a family trip somewhere. I like to take advantage of 3 day weekends sometimes and I might be a little bummed if there was a wedding dead smack in the middle of the weekend. Just my opinion!

I voted for the 4th but 2nd choice is 25th.  Usually with long weekends, there’s lots of traffic, some people may have travel plans & if you have any Out of Town guests, hotel rates go up. Plus with the 4th your date would be 2-4-2012 (I like the sound of the even numbers). ๐Ÿ™‚

I know if we had a long weekend immediately following a weekday V-Day, I’d want to go out of town and do something really special with Darling Husband. I’d avoid that and the weekend before V-Day.

I voted 4th… but I think 25th is good too.

THe 25th of Feb is when my sister got married… we have had quite a few Feb. anniversarys in my family, my sister is the 25th, my god daughters parents are the 14th, my aunt is the 14, my grandmother is 18 my cousin is the 4th… kinda funny… and that is just family not counting two friends as well…

I dont really care about valentines day. so it never crossed my mind… I dont even notice it being that much busier or anything but we never do anything big to celebrate its kinda nice were a mellow simple couple…
