I never thought this would happen to me, but here I am, and now I am asking for your help. I am an incredibly indecisive person so dress shopping has been very difficult. After visiting several shops, I finally purchased a Maggie Sottero Lori. I love lace!
But then dress regret set in. I am concerned that my weight loss isn’t happening as quickly as I’d like and the Lorie doesn’t offer a whole lot of cover up for my tummy. Also, I wish the train was longer/more traumatic.
When I went to go pick up my veil today, I purchased another Maggie gown (half price, off the rack). I don’t remember the name of the dress, but it’s taffeta and discontinued. It’s not anything I ever thought I wanted, but I don’t know, I just liked it when I put it on. It has a big dramatic train and rouching to help conceal tummy problems.
I am going to sell one dress. Will you ladies help me decide which one looks best? They’re just so different…
NOTE: I have already purchased the belt and veil I am wearing with dress #2, so they can be worn with either dress.

I think the Lorie is much nicer, and much more flattering on your body 🙂 It will look great!

@Jacqui90: Thank you for the feedback!

I understand that you feel self conscious about your stomach (honestly it looks ok and you still have plenty of time before the wedding if you did want to lose weight) but I much prefer the Lorie. I’m not a fan of the back of the second dress or the fabric. The Lorie looks really classy on you.

I actually think the Lorie is more flattering. On the second dress, I’m not a fan of the detailing cutting across the widest part of the hips. I also think the Lorie has a beautiful train – I like that it flows and pools behind you instead of being bunched up.

Thanks ladies! The feedback is already helping. I just noticed I typed “traumatic” instead of “dramatic” train. Must have been a Freudian slip, lol!

I’m sure that by a more “traumatic” train you meant more dramatic, hehehe;)
I agree with the PPs. I think that dress 1 is more flattering to your figure and looks elegant and more sophisticated. The fabric and details on dress 2 just don’t look as high quality as dress 1. I’ve also never felt that ruching really conceals anything since it’s extra fabric, so to my eye it makes things look bigger and like you’re trying to hide something that I wouldn’t have otherwise noticed. All of the extra details on dress 2 compete for my eye whereas my eye notices you in dress 1! It looks great on you!

Girl you’re crazy! The Lorie looks amazing on you! Keep it and sell the other!

@SmangieBee: I prefer the Lorie on you. I don’t feel like it accentuates your tummy area at all, and conversely I don’t think the second dress is necessarily more flattering. The Lorie is much more my style I guess, I think it’s elegant and romantic whereas I feel like the second dress has too much going on. I think your waist will look teeny when you add the sash to the Lorie. Besides, you have a few more months yet to shed some more weight if you want to – although I think you look just lovely in the Lorie now.

I like the first one a lot more. I also think it looks more flattering on you. Maybe add a blingy belt?
The second one is very busy, and its really not my personal style.

Thanks everyone!! Guess I should have posted before I made the purchase :-/ I appreciate everyone’s opinions. I think the belt I bought (the one I’m wearing with the second dress- which I figured out is the “Rebecca Luise”) will help a lot with the Lorie and my belly issue. And I do still have time to lose some weight- but it’s crunch time!

I agree with everyone else… Lori is your girl! The Rebecca actually makes you look wider– I think it’s that detailing at the hip. If, by chance, you end up going with Rebecca, I’d ditch the belt. It’s WAY too much with all the other stuff going on everywhere on that dress! It would look lovely with Lori, I think.

The Lorie looks fantastic on you and shows off your body where the other one kind if just a whole lot of volume. Lace flatters you nicely! But I have a confession to make…. I’m a Lorie bride too so I’m bias! Yayyy! Another lorie bride! i felt the same way about the train :(. But i got over it quickly. You look fantastic!!!! I think I remember you from the lorie board right?

I really like the first one. Did you try it on with Spanx?

No contest! Lorie for sure!!! 🙂
