I need your help. I got our photos for our Save the Dates from the photographer.
I’m actually rather annoyed/upset because only TWO of them are in landscape and the rest are profile layout out of the 12 shots she sent me. She knew the ones with the banner were for postcards so you’d think she would have shot them mostly in landscape (which is clearly what I’d envisioned). :/ Not cool.
Had I known there were only 2 in landscape, I wouldn’t have tagged us in the one she posted on Facebook. (and seriously, did she have to post one of those 2?? sigh).
Well, it is what it is now..
Fiance has vetoed the other landscape one because it doesn’t show our faces (little more artistic shot – I love it tho)
So that leaves us with the one that everyone has seen already on FB, or another that’s in portrait.
Fiance doesn’t think it’s a big deal to use the one that’s on FB already. I’m leaning towards portrait mostly because it hasn’t been seen. But I like the look of landscape for postcards. Ugh.
Both pics are below. (I decided to add options 3 & 4 as well but keep in mind that Fiance really liked Options 1 & 2 best for the Save-The-Date Cards – he may be open to popular opinion tho)
What do you think? Should I go with the profile one and it doesn’t matter that it’s profile? Which is the best picture? Should I do the landscape one and it doesn’t matter that it’s already been seen by a good deal of our guests on FB?
Thanks girls, I appreciate the feedback.
Option #1 – Unseen but in portrait for postcard
Option #2 – landscape seen on FB already:
Option 3 – also portrait but different picture:
Option 4 – another different Portrait:

If you really want a landscape postcard, it doesn’t matter AT ALL that people have seen the picture already. This is just one of those bride things that other people won’t care about even though it seems really horrible.
I think you guys look happiest in #4 though, so that would be really cute to use that one

First off, you guys look like such a sweet couple! Congrats! I personally really liked the last portrait- your smiles made me smile too! Just my 2 cents 🙂
Any way to crop the portraits or something to get the landscape format you want (haven’t done mine yet, so I know zero about how the process works). Sorry you are disappointed with how your photographer handled it… hope you like the finished product!

Thank you girls!
I know it’s silly but I’ve been seriously trying not to cry for the past like, 5 hours.
I was sooo excited for these STD’s and have been planning them for so long. It’s the entire reason I wanted to do the engagement shoot in the first place. (Tho I also have now been planning to use photos for a guest book).
I’m just really disappointed with the situation I guess. :/

I think you’re putting too much thought into this. I personally love the last picture – you both look so happy and natural – but if you prefer the landscape then go ahead and send that one. Even if it was tagged on facebook, people don’t always check everyone’s photos or pages so there is a good chance that some haven’t seen it before. Also, a postcard is more likely to be seen by the whole family or other friends that visit the home whereas on fb only certain users would have access to the pic.

I’m bumping this because I’d love more input on the poll. The two pictures I’m not in between are 50/50.

I like how happy you look in number 4, though I do like number 2 as well. I guess it kind of depends on your personality as a couple, are you more smiley or more quiet? By The Way my cousin sent out portrait stle STD magnets and they looked really nice.

@NewYorkLady: Can’t you just crop the portrait pic and still create a postcard in landscape format?
like this one:

I really like the sourth picture. You both look happy and excited and I think that makes an excellent save the date picture.

@Eckle: We’re definitely more smiley/kissy/affectionate haha
@ms_protea: I have considered that but I like the look of the picture being the whole front of the postcard. I’ve also considered where they do a collage of 3 pictures on the front like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/106616375/picture-collage-save-the-date-postcard

I also quite dig this pic – Option 5?:

Thank you so much for the input everyone!! We decided to go with the 2nd one and make it into a collage with 3 other pictures.
I will post the final result when we get it from the designer. 🙂
