twofish :  Dude who pissed in your cheerios? Sorry but halos are absolutely extremely popular right now. There are beautiful solitares and there are beautiful halos. It all comes down to personal preference.

I’m a usually a big Tacori fan but tbh I don’t like that particular setting at all. I don’t like the prongs or the metal in between the pave around the halo. #1 hands down. Go for the bigger rock!

atlonglast :  How do you interpret emotion from text? Anyway, where I live you don’t see halos. Darn near every ring is either Solitaire or Three stone with the majority being solitaire. This board and FB are the only places I see an abundance of halo rings.

I’m super biased because my ring has the first setting (but with a round diamond) lol.  But tbh I have never been a fan of halos and always wanted a solitaire diamond that stood out on it’s own.  The setting appealed to me because it lets the center diamond stand out and showcase it’s own beauty, but it adds a little extra sparkle with the pave band, and makes it a little unique with the diamonds around the basket.

twofish :  Halos are insanely popular right now i see them on every second girl.

Learn how to voice your opinion without being offensive.. I am assuming your an adult not a 12 year old child.

“Boring and original”? Half this site, including myself has a solitaire and theres nothing boring or unoriginal about them.. if you don’t like something just say you dont prefer it instead of putting it down.

OP.. I love both of those but I think I prefer the first one.

My ring is a round version of the first option, so I chose that one.

While I can appreciate well-done halos on others’ rings, I honestly haven’t seen many well-done halos IRL. They are usually bulky with too much metal showing between the stones.

Solitaires are timeless to me and I’d prefer to never change my ring, so the pave wrap under the stone was enough of a unique and sparkly element to me to make my ring special to me while still having the timelessness of the solitaire.

But you will really only be able to decide once you see both of these rings on your own hand to compare IRL. Definitely call all the jewelry stores in your area and ask who has these two styles in, and if anyone can have one shipped in for you to look at if need be. Don’t ever be afraid to ask. The worst they can do is say no.

chanieish : no halo with larger stone has my vote! This style is very elegant in my opinion. My ring is super similar to it so I may be biased 😊 aside from me just preferring this style over the other, a 2.5 carat stone sure doesn’t need a halo!

The non halo one is so much more elegant in my opinion. I love the way it showcases the stone, and you still have the extra bling from the side stones on that one. Plus, I love a large stone, so I say go bigger and no halo.

chanieish :  no halo. It doesn’t do the stone any justice.

I came in here expecting to choose the solitaire, because I generally don’t like halos. But I really like the Tacori setting. I’m biased because I have a rose gold Tacori (not a halo though) and I LOVE it. I love Tacori’s rose gold. It’s more yellow than most rose golds, so be aware of that. It’s definitely a plus in my book because I originally wanted yellow gold.

I think it’s stunning on its own!  I got a halo a few years back and then every single engagement ring I saw IRL after mine also had a halo… so I kind of wish I had gone the solitaire route since it’s so timeless and classic!  I worry that a decade in the future, halos will seem like a “trend” from this time.  (Don’t get me wrong, I love them and wanted one for myself!!)  Plus 2.5 carats, let that baby shine on its one!
