I can’t decide between Bari Jay chiffon dresses in Rose or Bill Levkoff chiffon dresses in Victorian Lilac. At the bridal salon, I mentioned that I might want to do a mix and match look using both colors. The bridal attendant suggested that I add more colors to tie everything together. My MOH would be in a dark purple shade and my 6 BMs would be in rose, victorian lilac, and suede rose. I kind of like the idea of having different colors, but I worry that A) it won’t look right and B) it will just get too complicated. What should I do? Also, diffrent dresses means different prices, I wouldn’t want a BM to be upset because they got stuck with the pricier dress. Any suggestions or thought? Thanks!

daniara24: I like the last picture. Those colors go nicely together. I wouldn’t put the dark purple in the mix, I would maybe do one shade darker of the Lilac.
What is the budget for the bridesmaids? I would talk with each of them individually and find out what they can each afford and work from there. And if you do different style dresses, I suggest you stick to one tye of fabric and length

I agree – I’m not sure the dark one works as well. But I don’t know the other colors in your wedding. My favorite is the rose.
How many maids do you have? I feel like the mix&match look works better when there’s lots of them. If you just have four, I like them to all wear the same thing. But you’re the bride, so your vision is the one that counts!

koi424: I have 7 maids in total and I would like them to all wear long chiffon gowns. I think I would have enough girls.

Kanali k are reasonably priced and look similar to those.. they don’t look too pretty on the computer but if you can find a salon with them they are very reasonably priced that was my problem with bridesmaids and it looked great on ..

If you are going to do mismatched colors and dresses, why not let them choose a color from paint swatches you pick out and tell them to pick any long chiffon dress in that color?
That way they get to control the cost of their dress and choose a style that is flattering to them.

I see a majority of the votes are for the mix of pinks and purples. If I were to go with the 3 colors in the last picture, how should I break it up between my MOH and 6 BMs?

I’d either put the MOH in the light color (my personal preference) or the rose. Those will stand out most.

I would pick a second shade of light purple and put the MOH in the darker shade and then do 2 of each of the other 3 colors

daniara24: I really like the mix! But to save your sanity and possible drama I would just go with one colour, I like the rose the best. Or have the MOH in the lilac and BMs in Rose (that’s my second vote).
But, you know your girls best, if you don’t think there will be any drama and you have a bunch of laid back chicks then do the different colours! They’re all beautiful.
