I believe there was another thread on here a little bit ago about a bride who got herself into a whole pickle when she took a BM’s word that she’d lose weight for the dress. I definitely do not think that should even be an option. A situation like that could end badly in a variety of ways. I actually think the 2nd option is really cute. Is it possible to look elsewhere for a champagne dress?

@KimmySumShuga:  I wouldn’t hurt her feelings or  make her feel like you’re not getting your first choice because of her. I would make a general statement to everyone ask if they wanna join you. My BMs and I are planning on being healthy all together but none of them are overweight and if they were I don’t care but they showed interest in getting fit together – fun!! Option 3 would be gorgeous too. Maybe do that instead?

I love the first one, but I, too, would be worried about your Bridesmaid or Best Man dropping 2 sizes to fit as it’s always easier to take a dress in than it is to let it out.  and with all that altering for mulitple BM’s, it sort of squahes your cost effectiveness theory. So my second favorite is the silver one, and I think it does look very nice with the navy blue.  I’m not crazy about the Thyme in the beige, for that reason. It looks beige and personally, i hate beige. and I like the dresses being in the same fabric as yours, pulls it all together IMO.

So perhaps look into alterations options before you purchase. Go consult a seamstress with the issue and ask her what can be done if need be. If her answer satisfies you then that’s good. If she’s already taking big steps to lose weight then it’s possible you have less to worry about than this other bride, but I remember that thread, it wasn’t pretty, and I wouldn’t want you to have to go through the same thing!

I really like the thyme dress and I think the color goes will with a nautical theme. I don’t think it’s too dark at all. The first one is pretty, but I would be extremely wary of expecting your Bridesmaid or Best Man to drop 2 sizes. Has she tried to lose weight before? Did it work (long term)? Not only is there the stress that she might not lose the weight, but I think it would be extremely emotionally stressful for both of you to be counting on her losing weight.

I love the first one but it’s not really fair to make your bridesmaids get a dress where their size is unavailable.. So i voted for thyme

They are all very pretty, but I prefer the second dress.

I also wouldn’t advise ordering a dress that doesn’t fit one of your bridesmaids and don’t expect her to use your wedding as a motivation to lose weight.  Losing weight is a very personal matter.  Like someone else said, you don’t want to make her feel bad about it either.  Even if you believe she is already motivated, it can be a very sensitive matter.

The first one isn’t an option for you, so I don’t understand why you’ve included it in the polls…but I do agree that it is a beautiful dress, and the only one I like of the choices, so I would vote for, “None of these,” if that was an option….. =)

I’m glad you are understanding and don’t take what is said too personally.  You are a good friend. 🙂
