I would take #1 totally out of the running, asking someone to lose 2 full dress sizes is way too risky.
I would probably go with #3 of the remaining choices, because it fits your theme well. You could jazz it up with a statement necklace.

I voted for the Thyme dress I think that it’s the wise choice given sizes and quality, and it actually looks more like your inspiration board to me than the others.

non helpful but i really appreciate how you set up the visual so people could compare the dresses! 🙂
(i like your first dress, too bad the sizes dont work but perhaps u can get a swatch of similar fabric and have it altered with an extra panel?…she could maybe wear a wrap it it isnt perfect? i don’t particularly like the thyme dress it doesn’t really seem to go with your theme – it says take me outdoors! not take me to sea!)

Please don’t have any BMs order dresses in a size smaller than they are.. it is just setting up a disaster, and no one really should have to lose weight for your wedding.

I voted for the Blue Nile one because I love that pop of color, but if there was a “none of these” options I would have chosen that. It looks like the Blue Nile may indeed clash with the groomsmen’s outfits (which are perfect for your theme, btw!), but it’s hard to tell from photos so maybe it would be okay.
Also, it doesn’t seem like ANY of these styles (save perhaps the last) would be very flattering on a fuller figure like size 14-18. I’m a curvy size 6-8 and still would think I would look pretty fat in all those styles, becuase it looks like the dress is pulled in right below the bust (rather than at the natural waist), which always makes women look pregnant unless they have a specific, slim frame. Also sleevless dresses generally do not do women any favors, unless you have model arms, and they can be particularly unflattering for a full-chested lady! But again it is hard to tell from the photos, so if your larger-sized Bridesmaid or Best Man felt good in a similar cut maybe they’d be ok.
Just don’t be afraid to keep looking. The navy dress in your inspiration photos would be perfect — good color, and flattering with the belted waist and arm cover.
Oh and I agree with PP that you should not consider the one that doesn’t come in all the right sizes. Your Bridesmaid or Best Man can have the same motivation to fit into a smaller size in a different dress (and look great in your photos), but she and you don’t need the pressure of *having* to have her fit into a smaller size.

I love the thyme. I think the knotted waist fits the nautical theme. Like you mentioned concern about, I do feel the teal and silver colours do not work with the combo picked for his men.

I love the first one! it goes perfect with your inspiration board and makes it look like you thought out everything down to the pin point of perfection. Your venue is gorgeous!

Ok, I think all of the dresses are great, but because the first dress (even though it is your favorite) presents a problem, I would toss it from the group. The third dress, the Thyme Pocket dress look great with your color pallet and I think would go well with everyone’s body type. You have to be super careful with a sweathear neckline on a bigger busted (is that a word??) girl because it could cause them to look larger then they actually are…you know? Plus, the waist line is slimming and the color looks great! I think the blue is pretty, but doesnt really match what your Fiance picked out for their attire, and the grey is a little muted, and the dress from target might not look great on everyone. My vote is for the Thyme dress! I think the color is great and will go with your theme! I wish you the best! Keep us updated!! Good luck!

I voted for the thyme dress. I think the first one is nice too, but asking your Bridesmaid or Best Man to drop sizes for your wedding is just a ton of pressure, IMO, and just a disaster if it doesn’t work out.
And stupid question, but I can’t find the silver pocket dress on the Ann Taylor site! Do you have a link?

Im having a nautical wedding myself. I really like the 4th dress that’s silver. I think its very important for your bridesmaids to feel comfortable. I have bridemaids of all shapes and sizes so we finally found a long gown that complemented everyone and was forgiving in the tummy area. I wanted to cute cocktail dresses but with the formality of our wedding and keeping all the girls happy I obted for the crowd pleaser (the long dress). I love the 1st one too but that is a lot to ask someone try and drop two sizes. I know because of my breast size I always have to go up a size in a dress already and a lot of the bridesmaid dresses run small. It would be terrible for her to buy the dress and not have it fit and not be able to participate in the wedding since her dress doesn’t fit and wasting all that money. I think both of the colors compliment the navy jacket and your gown. so go with whats best for the girls.

I am in LOVE with the first dress, and if you wouldn’t mind I would be eternally greatful if you could link me to it? I looked for it on the Ann Tayor website but I think I must have missed it.
However, I would not go with it having to chance someone losing weight. That just seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Of your choices, I like the Thyme dress. I actually think it kind of goes with the theme – the middle part looks a teeny bit like rope and reminds me of when Ariel in the Little Mermaid makes herself a dress out of some burlap and rope. Okay, that sounds ghetto when typed out but I don’t mean it that way lol.

@KimmySumShuga: I think they all look amazing, and so I do not think you can go ‘wrong’. However, wanted to throw my 2 cents in regarding the Target dress. I LOVE TARGET…a lot, and so I ordered a dress online for an upcoming wedding I would be attending as a guest. Price was good, fit to size, etc! However, the fabric was awful. They labeled it as chiffon, but it looked more satiny to me, and felt ‘cheap’. Maybe it was just that one dress, but I returned over the weekend, and found something else!!! Good luck!

honestly, I think it should be your bridesmaids that decide on the dress, not you, or us.
I know what you’re going through with stressing over dresses for your BMs- I’ve been living it myself for months. Recently however, I finally realized that we’d all be happier if I just chose the colour, and let them choose whatever dress they wanted in whatever shade of that colour.
so they can determine what size, style and price works for them and everyone’s happy. If you’re really set on having them all be an exact match, then go to a store where they can get different dresses in the same colour.
