Do you have any slight preference? In the past, princess was always my favorite cut, but I LOVE my round solitaire. About what size of diamond would be in budget for you? You could always get a solitaire engagement ring and get the diamond band as a wedding band or anniversary band BUT not wear them together. Plain bands are fairly inexpensive for everyday wear with your solitaire. I’ve considered doing the same, as many diamond bands I like tend to dwarf my particular setting.

Have you tried on this combo at a jewelery store? That would be my first step.

I voted for the round solitaire  I have in my 18 years of marriage been through 2 other wedding sets!

I lost my original to a garbage disposal accident my diamond I still have loose though chipped;)

it was a round formy last anniversary my husband purchased a bridge over water setting with a quad set princess nut one of the stones came out and even though it was fixed Never looked the same!

we replaced it with a beautiful platinum 1ct round with pave diamonds and and platinum scott kay wedding band;)

Is the platinum band plain? If so I think a round solitaire or big 3 stone in lieu of the half eternity would look very nice. If comfort is your goal then the a low set 3 stone will fit the bill, no snagging and still ultra sparkles! Only you can decide what you find comfy wearing everyday. I know personally I’d knock the crap out of a large solitaire lol

kbee123 :  You can’t go wrong with either! They both look gorgeous on your hand and are drool worthy ! I think this is going to go down to a matter of comfort. Are you planning on just wearing one ring after your married as well? This could help us with helping you make your choice. Please come back with pics once you receive your ring.

kbee123 :  Holy cow, girl!! I would just have to go with that solitaire!! That’s simply me though. You could always get the diamond band later on and go between the two. I just don’t think I could pass up such a lovely ring!!

kbee123 :  is your personality more modern (princess) or classic (round)?  Are you the girl that is a out of the box bad ass (princess) or a little more shy and understated beauty (round)? Do you like to be different most of the time (princess) or do you like to fit in (round)? It all depends on your personality and how each one makes you feel. You have beautiful and long fingers so a round or a princess cut would look great either way. What cut do you feel is more you?

I voted for round solitaire but I am biased. I have a 2.4 round with a simple platinum band and I love it.

I always thought I’d want to pair it with an eternity wedding band, but I actually love the look of a plain platinum wedding band, the diamond really stands out.

Round and full eternity…that’s what I have and I feel like it’s timeless.

I personally don’t like the princess cut. but i love both the eternity band and the round solitare! i would probably go with the round solitare. It is classic and timeless. plus it will not look like its a wedding band. to me its important my engagement ring and wedding band look differet.
