I need help. Lots and lots of help. ๐
My reception venue is gold. Here are some pictures of the room with both chair types:

Our main color is royal blue. I picked out placecard holders and they are gold; I could get them in silver though. The centerpieces were planned to consist of white flowers, white candles, and some royal blue stones in vases.
I have NO IDEA what to do with linens. My aunt said not gold because the utensils are silver and who puts silver utensils on a gold overlay? Apparently I thought nothing of it as I considered an embroidered champagne organza overlay. She said solid royal blue (satin or pintuck) overlays would be dramatic with white napkins. She also suggested an ivory for understated look. I do not want to do all white. I honestly cannot envision what it would look like with all that blue. We also considered royal blue runners only to decrease the level of blue or royal blue and white damask runners.
The hotel provides white tablecloths.
Any ideas? Please help me!

This is with blue: http://occasionalword.typepad.com/the_occasional_word/2009/09/index.html
Not a fan, personally, of the blue. Here is with champagne: http://www.champagnenw.com/blog/comments/vases_linens_and_more_for_sale/
It looks like they have silver utensils. I like it better than the blue.

I like the second type of chair, champagne linen and see if you can do silver chargers (like the picAJester2 posted) with the silver placecards. The blue in the enterpieces would allow it all to come together.

Ugh…I think I agree with the blue. I am not a fan – in my head, I was reminded of some high school banquet (my high school’s colors were royal blue and white, so this might be why). Unfortunately, we can’t use chargers because some of the dishes are square. We asked about this and they advised against it because square dishes would not really work.
I am kind of excited about the possibility of using silver and tying it together after the picture. We actually have silver as our other color, but I was concerned how it would work with the gold room and comtemplated not using it in the reception room.

Maybe silver doilies as a substitute? Or something that can sit there?

@MarieandIkeWedding: Oooh, silver doilies would look nice. Great idea. Are you going to have blue and white flowers?

@creativeplannertobee: We weren’t going to use blue. We were going to use blue stone in the bottom of the vases and submerge white flowers. I thought about blue but since we are not going to use real flowers, I am afraid they will turn the water blue. ๐ You think we need that extra blue in the vases? I considered royal blue floating candles for the top to add another pop of the blue, but not sure on that one.
