Hi there,

In Philly there is the Morris Arboretum, which is a pretty garden venue. You can do an outdoor ceremony. I believe they hold upwards to 150 (I don’t think they have a minimum) and I heard their catering costs are under $100 a person.

I had the same problem because my # is around 85 people.  I opted to find a venue that accepts outside catering and bring my own alcohol.  You can save a lot of $$ that way since you won’t have to pay extra tip on top of price.

Some suggestions:

Bartram’s Garden

Hilltop House

The Highlands

Local winery

Vineyards have very flexible head counts so do bed and breakfast places, you get married outside in the gardens or the vineyard then hold the reception inside.

I had a hard time too searching for a wedding venue but a friend suggested partyspace.com and that’s where I found mine. Since many locations were all in one site, it was easier to find what I wanted.

For outdoors, there’s Community Arts Center (with the sweetest photo that reminds me of a castle) and Tyler Arboretum in Delaware County, Pa just minutes from the airport.  Here’s the link: http://partyspace.com/philadelphia/wedding-venues#0/11/0/0/0/0/

If you love outdoors, Audubon is perfect. I went to a bridal barn sale there awhile back. It’s sourrounded by nature.

There’s also a page for South Jersey: http://partyspace.com/philadelphia/wedding-venues#0/3/0/0/0/0/

Tyler Arboretum will probably be out of her price range (rental fee plus like $143 pp I was quoted) and with Audubon I think you have to rent EVERYTHING including porta potties and a dance floor.  Correct me if I’m wrong though about Audubon but that’s the impression I got.

I suggest Arden Hall in Delaware Steven Cohen the president is a delight to work with.
