Hi.  I was just like you.  Wanted a certain look and was on a strict budget and super stressed out with work.  I was so excited at the very first with planning and then got kind of stressed out so early in the game.  I took all of my wants and ideas and just hired a planner.  I had to keep my wedding on budget and that was the most important thing to my fiance and myself but I also wanted a certain look with chic, upscale, glam.  My fiance told me to hire a wedding planner and I didn’t really want to do that bec/I thought it would eat into my budget but I called around and found a gem (Laura Wright).  I brought her pictures of what I was dreaming of, my budget and many ideas.  Her deposit is REAL low and they fit their fees into my budget so I didn’t go a penny over and guess what??  I had more flowers and food than I thought I could even afford.  She did an AMAZING job.  My wedding looked so much more expensive than it really was.  The website is http://www.soireesouth.com and I am pretty sure they work in Savannah, Atlanta and Charleston – all over the southeast.  It’s worth a try calling her.  I cannot recommend Soiree South highly enough but no matter what …a planner can help you.  You can be as much a part of the planning as you want – they will do it all or back up and just guide you and there are usually difffering packages avail…depending on what you need.  Good luck!

We had the same wedding planner!  Soiree South & Co. and they were GREAT!!!  Highly recommend and I agree a planner is an asset.  They will save you money!  I also wasn’t going to hire one – was only going to do day of coordination but it wasn’t much more to have the benefit of a planner who could snag some deals, negotiate on my behalf and find things, design things that made our wedding magazine worthy!!Smile  We did not go a penny over our budget either.  I had no idea where I wanted to get married – I just had these ideas in my head.  Laura helped me figure out what I really wanted and find the place and get the deals!

I’m a Marietta girl, engaged in December also (woop woop!). We are considering The Brickyard at Marietta Station. Seems like a pretty cool place, we’re looking at a Sunday so rental for 7 hours is $1700 according to their site. Generally stays in that range. Lots of great catering and bakery opions close by, too. Good luck!

@courtyardgarden and LindorsGirl

I would love an update on how your weddings went!  I talked with Laura from Soiree South & Co. last night, and I just happend to stumble across this thread today.  Any pros or cons that you could share would be really helpful.  I’m looking at the Savannah/Tybee area for a destination wedding, so I would need someone there to help me plan just about everything.  Thanks!

MissBoxerBee – It was the best day of my life!!!!!!!  Everything was flawless!  I know someone else who is using Soiree South for planning and they are extremely pleased with the way things are going!  Their wedding is coming up.  My whole family thought Laura/Soiree South was wonderful.  I am going to write a review on my vendors when I have time.  Good luck!

Thanks ladies!  I can’t wait to hear your full review!  I’m just so anxious about trying to plan something from a few states away, so it’s good to hear that it’s doable and that there are some great resources available.

@dancindavinci:  I’m sure you’ve found a wedding venue by now, but just in case I’d say check out Savannah Station. It’s BEAUTIFUL and sounds exactly like what you’re looking for!
