I bought my dress a few weeks ago, and I’m having a hard time finding inspiration for my hair and makeup. The dress is pretty glamorous and form-fitting, and I want something classic but a little dramatic for our New Years Eve wedding.
What kind of hairstyle do you think would go best with this dress and veil? I was thinking a chignon of some kind but I’m not entirely convinced I want my hair up.
Also, we aren’t getting married until 8 p.m., so I think I could definitely go MUCH heavier on the makeup than I usually do (although I admitedly don’t wear a whole lot of makeup to begin with).
Here’s a picture of my dress:
And here’s what I look like on a daily basis (sans the graduation robe, obviously. Oh, and also I have been caring waaayyyy less about my hair in the past six months or so, and also it’s currently darker than this because I never get a chance to see sunlight what with all this schoolwork. But you get the idea):

Thank you!!! I really love the first updo that you posted, it’s a lot like my every day hair but spruced up a lot! And the curly/wavy hairstyle on the bottom is really nice too. And the makeup is really light and natural, I like it a lot! I’m thinking I might want a little more lip color, though. Mr. Fish has a particular fondness for lipstick, probably because I hardly ever wear it haha.
Would a hairstyle like this be okay for that dress, or would it be too much going on/distract from the back of it? (I like her makeup, too).

First of all…your dress is drop-dead-gorgeous!!!! There aren’t really word for how cool it is!
Second…that dress NEEDS and updo. Something smooth and sophisticated for sure.
For makeup, I’d stick to classics. A simple eye with black liquid liner and a bold red lip. Ah, so fabulous!

The picture that came to mind when I saw your dress was Nikki Reed at the scream awards. http://www.eclipsemovie.org/nikki-reed-at-the-2010-scream-awards/
