Get the new dress. 3 weeks is plenty of time for rush alterations. And find a different alterations person, there must be more out there.

Gwendolyn88:  I’d get them to send a new dress. I know a lot of people love dolly couture, but I had a bad experience. I ordered the beverlywood and it looks cheap and doesn’t seem to fit properly at the waist, even after I gave custom measurements.. So I’m selling it. I can’t return the thing because of the custom measurements. I found the perfect dress a few days later here and could have kicked myself. I wish id had the experience with them that so many other girls seem to. ๐Ÿ™ that said it’s entirely my own fault for buying a dress on the net. Lesson learned.

My own complaining aside, these alterations sound really expensive. I’d let them send me a new one.

Gwendolyn88:  I got a custom dress from them and they also fudged a few details. I sent it back and had a new one quicker than they promised, so I’d go with sending it back and getting a new one. When I had it altered it was under $200, and they did have to take the skirt off and alter the top & bottom separatly or else the fabric would bunch oddly in places where they took the waist in… My alterations took about a month & a half but that was because the place had very limited hours so I couldn’t make it in when I wanted to due to work. I would say 3 weeks is enough time if it’s already fairly close to fitting properly. I didn’t get my dress custom sized and went with an off the rack size and that cost me more in alterations, but saved me some $$ off the initial design….

That’s good news OP! Hope it goes well! Good to see Dolly Couture are helping out. I’m going to be selling my Dolly Couture dress that didn’t work out in a consignment store <grumbles>. Oh well, win some, lose some. ๐Ÿ™‚
