I am completely stumped on wedding dresses. I have never envisioned myself in one and to be honest, I feel kind of uncomfortable dressing up so much. To top it off, I’m not a huge fan of stark white dresses and would not be afraid of wearing a bright color if I saw the right dress. That being said, I really like BHLDN dresses. But I have this bad habit of immediately gravitating towards the most expensive thing in a group. So I of course had to love the Tamsin and Vivienne gowns which are way over my budget. Because I don’t think these two gowns will be going on sale before my wedding, I have started looking at other options.
I found one dress at Bloomingdales by accident for $80 that I bought on impulse. It’s my backup dress in case I can’t find another one. I’m so-so on it. I think it’s too white for my taste, but my mother and hubby love it and claim it looks the best on me of all options. I think they’re just saying that because of the price lol.
I also went to BHLDN and tried on two gowns that are within my budget. The Ines gown, and the Leila gown. The sizes that I tried on are too big on me, which makes it hard for me to imagine how it would look tailored. Please let me know what you all think.
BHLDN Tamsin & Vivienne (Way too much $$ but liked how they looked and felt)
BHLDN Leila (The sample gown was 4 sizes too big and I’m not sure how it looks like on my body type. But I love the back and gold threading)

I looooooooooooove BHLDN. My dress is being custom made based on a few of their dresses.
I love the very first one the most, 2nd favorite is Leila.

#1 of the bunch is my favorite, try preownedweddingdresses.com and tradsey, you might be able to find it for less.
#2 is not great. I’m not crazy about the color, and the illusion neckline isn’t great.
#3 is really pretty. Not my personal style, but looks really nice on you.
#4 I love this dress, but is that rhinestone belt part of the dress? Or is it separate? If it can be removed, that’s my favorite out of the bunch.

ellie17: I didn’t vote because I can’t choose between 1 and 2, beautiful! I prefer the first two over the other two more expensive ones and bloomingdale dress.

I love the first two. #2 would be my favorite if it was a true strapless dress. I’m not a fan of the illusion neckline. And #1 looks amazing on you as well.
Are you open to getting a custom made dress? It might be an alternative, especially if you can pick out different colored fabrics.

I was blown away by the Leila dress on you (imagining that it would fit in the right size) so I voted for that one. More so than the Tamsin and Vivienne. But the Bloomingale dress that you have is a really really close second that you could not go wearing that dress as I love that on you too. Since they are so close in flattery on you, if it was me, I would go with the Bloomingale since it is just as nice of a dress at a fraction of the cost.

I loved the Tasmin online and I love it on you. No way to fit it into your budget?
I think your Bloomingdales dress is also lovely. Leila is my next fav after that. I’m not sure what it is but the Ines one isn’t my favorite.

The first one seems made for you!

OMGMrsW2B: Thanks! The stylist added the belt, but the Ines dress doesn’t come with any acessories.

ellie17: There is not a bad choice. you have impeccable taste! My favourite is the Ines though. The fabric detailing is to die for.

pumilionis: I really don’t want to spend over $1k on a dress. We eloped 10 years ago and didn’t have our family there, didn’t have a party, and didn’t even dress up at all. So we are having a convalidation/church wedding now because we want to have our family around us and to fullfill my spirtual needs. We’re only having a simple and short celebration afterwards to thank our family and friends for being there and I cannot justify an expensive dress for this.

The Leila dress is my favorite of all but I wanted a backup just in case it doesn’t go on sale in time. I would hesitate to have it custom made since there might not be enough time for that and I don’t know how the quality will be.

The Tamsin and Vivienne gowns are beautiful, but if the price doesn’t sit well with you, than it’s not worth it. Based on these options, I think the Ines looks wonderful on you and is not a typical lace dress.

I loved #2 but voted to stay within your budget… I also really like your dress you have right now. Its very pretty! I kinda did the same thing. I had a $2000 budget but wasnt thrilled with anything I tried on. I bought a $131 sample which is nice and flattering and a good back up. I am now on a hunt for a used gown that ‘wows’ me…we will see what happens.

If you like illusion necklines, I saw the Penelope gown is about half of the price of the Vivienne gown and looks quite similar:
(Sorry I think I mixed up which dresses were more expensive in my previous post).
