After nearly 10 years of Volvo, I bought a new VW Jetta in 2011. I have to say I love it! No issues yet, knock on wood!

Any Honda is amazing. Every Honda I’ve had (which isn’t many, because they last forever) have been amazing. AMAZING.

Mini. I had a Mini for two years up until 1 month ago (I was in an accident). It’s an amazing car, it was perfect for me. It’s great on gas, the size made it easy to park anywhere, esay to change lanes – I always felt comfortable. The only downside for me was if I had more than one passenger because there wasn’t much space in the back.
The car is made by BMW so the engines also last forever.
I’m not in a position right now to buy a car, but if I could get any car on the market it would be another Mini 🙂 I really couldn’t have been happier with it.

I loved my Scion TC before it got totaled in a hail storm. if youre looking to buy new though, I’d check out the FR-S! I can’t wait to buy one next year.

I drive my moms Jeep Liberty all the time, I love that thing. So much room in it. Large back seat, great trunk space, seats are comfortable even on long trips. There highway noise is nil compaired to other small suvs (like the rav4). Gas mileage is great, it turns on a time, has 4 on the fly, and has quite a few bells and whistles. Shoot, you can even get tents that hook right up to the back. One came with my moms truck (not like she will use it). And she has put very little into keeping it up.
I would buy one tomorrow if I could I love hers so much.

I am also in the middle of looking for a new vehicle, so I have also been doing tons of research. Check out the JD Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study (you can google that and it’s the first thing to pop up). It lists the top 36 car makers and the number of problems per 100 vehicles for each company (lower number=better dependability). While the Mini Cooper is adorable, Mini is 36/36 on that list, and Jeep is 35/36, so I would stay away from those two.
You can also look at very comprehensive reviews on US News for free (you have to pay for Consumer Reports). The Jeep Liberty and the Scion both got pretty poor reviews, while the Mini Cooper, and The Hyundai Tucson were average. The Ford Escape and Toyota Rav4 both got very good reviews and both have above average dependability (Toyota is #5 on that list). Hope that helps!

I drive a Lexus CT200h.. It is just lovely.
It is a hybrid, so it is very economical. Apart from that, it is a luxury car so it has all the bells and whistles- I just love it!

Of your choices, rav4 would be my pick. I drive a Volkswagen jetta TDI, and I totally love it! Brand new in 2009 with 80k miles now (sad!) and I have had very few problems at all. I needed new tires once, which is normal after 50k ish miles, and I’ve needed new headlights and that is seriously all I can think of. I get 45 mpg because its diesel. Love it! VW’s last forever! My dad had an old jetta that ran for 250k miles, the odometer broke, and he’s still able to drive it. It probably has 350k miles on it. Only downside is that a lot of their parts are unique to VW and your average mechanic won’t have them, so it’s important to go to a dealer for service. This has only been an issue for me because I lived in a rural area. Most cities have a dealer.

I’m a toyota fan through and through, SO has a Rav4, I have a Corolla, My Mom had a Corolla for 24 years and then she sold it to buy a Volvo (she still misses that car), Dad’s had Trucks, Celicas, Camrys, Corollas. So I swear by the entire line! My goal is to purchase a Prius, perhaps the new plug in model… when I can afford it lol

I drive a 2011 Honda Fit and I must tell you that I’m so in love with my car. I have had no issues with it and overall all the people I have dealt with have been fantastic. I would highly recommend them!

Of your choices, I would say the Toyota Rav4. We just bought a new car, and test drove, like, every suv out there and the Rav4 was really nice. The ONLY thing I didn’t like about it was the “trunk” door, how it opened sideways.
I’ve been a long time toyota owner (I have a 4runner) and it’s great. Our new car is a Mazda and we’re also highly impressed.
Of the others, my Darling Husband would strongly caution you against a Jeep Liberty. He’s a mechanic and says it’s no comparision to some of the others you’ve mentioned.

I just bought a Jeep Liberty last month and I could not be more obsessed with it! It’s always been my dream car! I love being up high, I feel so safe and ableto see everything happening on the road around me. The safety reviews are good for the car as well. I got a 4×4 because I live in Chicago and the winters here can be crazy so I wanted something that will get me where I need to go without getting stuck. Again, reviews for this are great. I love my liberty!

I bought a 2012 Ford Escape in March and I absolutely love it. I picked it because I’ve wanted one for years, my husband and I both like Fords, and I like the shape of the Escape (as opposed to SUVs with a more jellybean shape).
Personally, I would stay away from Mini Coopers and the Jeep Liberty – just based off of things I’ve heard of them. I also am not a huge fan of Scions or the Toyota Rav4, but my opinion based on those are just because I don’t like the look of them..not because of any ratings, reviews, or maintenance/durability.
