@violet25:  Guest list is definitely the first thing because everything relies on that.  Then, I would work on booking vendors – so, your officiant, photographer and videographer.  Registry can wait until a few months before the wedding.  The invitaitons don’t need to be ordered until 4 months or so before the wedding.  You should start thinking about wedding bands 4-6 months out.  Hope this helps.  Don’t stress – you have PLENTY of time.  Enjoy it!

Are you guys going to have a bridal party? If so, you and Fiance need to select who will be serving and what attire they need.

Decorations for the ceremony and reception, if you want.

Depending on the state you are in, you need to order marriage certificate within a certain time frame to make sure it comes in time and stays valid for your wedding.

Buy your wedding dress??!!

@violet25: Guest list always comes first. Make a list of the names and then divide it up between your mother, your Future Mother-In-Law, your Fiance and yourself to find addresses.

Invitations don’t need to go out until about 3 months until the wedding, so you don’t need to order them much earlier than that. So you can put that towards the bottom of your list.

The knot has a great timeline. You can add and subtract events from and “assign” tasks to various people, so that you know which things you have to stay on top of and which items other people are taking care of. http://planning.theknot.com/wedding-checklist/due-date
