my wedding inivitation thus far, is worded like this…
"with joyous hearts
we invite you to attend
on sunday, the thirteenth of july
two thousand and eight
at five thirty in the afternoon"
the information that follows is the location, and then ends with our first and middle names together on the same line.
i wanted to add something down below on the bottom of the invite that lets everyone know that the dress is casual (the groom and his boys are wearing collard organic hemp shirts and khaki pants and my bridesmaids are wearing organic cotton sun dresses)…(i’m wearing my mothers gunne sack from the 70’s) without sounding too imformal? i dunno… i was gonna put something cute like, "shoes optional" because me or my bridesmaids won’t be wearing any but i don’t know if that sends the wrong message.
please give me some advice!!

I think the shoes optional idea is super cute. Are you doing an outdoor wedding? Is it an informal wedding besides the outfits. If its all around informal you could bring that up. For instance I had a friend get married last year that did a bbq style wedding. At the bottom of her invite she put a little quote about how music brings joy and asked everyone to bring a favorite mixed cd. I believe they played almost all of them by the end of the night. If it is not that laid back then I think just putting a little poem/saying/quote at the bottom is super cute. even if it is just roses are red violets are blue i’m not wearing shoes so why should you?

often times, just the invitation itself will convey the formality without you saying a word. how about using recycled paper? Or a cute print in the background? That would show informality, whereas a letterpressed invite edged in gold would covey the opposite

we are using recycled paper but i don’t think it says recycled paper on the invite… i like that poem idea!!
